There's been a thread running on Corridor of Uncertainty all week about Adams. Some of them are getting a bit precious about the kind of reception he should get.

I'm plain old "Tomo" on that one.

Nope. Not registered. Not noticed a Tomo, either, but I haven't really looked at usernames to be fair. Our cricket threads wipe the floor with theirs, to be fair. And I bet they don't get on regional radio

ok spoff, here goes,

A good run of form will mean SUSSEX are WRIGHT on form for a GOODWIN at Headingly. The Yorkshire faithful will know that RANA in Leeds will give the pitch an extra YARDY of pace, although if the sun comes out the fielders could well MONTGOMERIE burns.
Confidence will drain on the Sussex balcony as their players realise that they have to carry the traitorous fooking twat ADAMS like a HODD carrier on a building site.
MARTIN-JENKINS will be reported* for LEWRYed actions on the field of play

Ray I think you are being a bit harsh..the wicket and conditions are obviously in the bowlers favour which is why they put us in if we had won the toss we would have put them in and they would be in the same position as us...the toss did for us. They are in now so lets see how they fare....8 overs tonight before stumps.

ok spoff, here goes,

A good run of form will mean SUSSEX are WRIGHT on form for a GOODWIN at Headingly. The Yorkshire faithful will know that RANA in Leeds will give the pitch an extra YARDY of pace, although if the sun comes out the fielders could well MONTGOMERIE burns.

Confidence will drain on the Sussex balcony as their players realise that they have to carry the traitorous fooking twat ADAMS like a HODD carrier on a building site.
MARTIN-JENKINS will be reported for LEWRYed actions on the field of play

Genius Marps, pure genius.

re: YORKSHIRE V Sussex (2007).

Still favour a draw. The only win I could see, I'm afraid, is for Sussex and that would depend on them bowling Yorkshire out in fairly short order. Runs seem incredibly difficult to come by and a Yorkshire win would require them to set a target that Sussex thought they could get and then losing wickets in the chase. Highly unlikely.

Spoff_MFC Posted on 18/6 11:46

Mind you, Yorkshire seem to be scoring a bit more quickly so perhaps conditions are easing at last. In which case my correspondent on 'Corridor' is probably right (I finally elicited something from them although 'Scarborough Memories' and 'Sayers Capped' are still more popular topics of conversation on there today). Just hope we don't let Sussex get any more bonus points, that's all.

'After the announcement this weekend of Sir Ian, how much longer does Geoffrey have to wait to be similarly recognised or has he not done enough charity work to merit such an honour?

Perhaps his belittling of the MBEs to the 2005 Ashes team has counted against him?

Seem to recall a petition calling for 'Sir' Geoff but clearly it did not work.

Apparently there is only Botham and Bedser alive of the English cricketers who have been knighted so surely there is room for one more or doe (sic) we need to keep it spare for Beckham??'

I'll see what I can do Tomo. When's your bike ride?

Capy, the ride was yday and a cracking day out - got lucky with the weather.

Legs a little stiff today but backside fine thanks to padded cycling shorts. One minor spill when some git cut us up - Mrs T lost a little bit of elbow skin but not too bad.

Made iot the big climb - ditchling beacon putting many of those walking it to shame.

we had a start time of 9.30, but got to clapham just before 9am having cycled down from my office and were away officially by 9.15 - only to go very slowly through all of south London due to volume of bikes and having to be held at major junctions to let cars go by.

Had word from T_I, he's working in San Fransisco, had one day off and burn his face.

It's his own FAULT if you ask me, shouldn't be sun bathing in San Fransisco...

7_The_Informer Posted on 18/6 19:26
re: YORKSHIRE V Sussex (2007).

Now then all, I'm here ...

Was busy last week "working" in San Francisco. One tip, don't try and walk from Union Square to the Pacific. The map they give you is not to scale and it took us 6 hours (and we got lost in the park). Also, contrary to Mark Twain who apparently said that the coldest winter of his life was summer in San Francisco (though he also said it about Gay Paris), ended up getting sunburned. So, the 3 of us who took the day off spent the rest of the week peeling and everyone knew where we had been

Had no internet connection in the hotel which meant that I couldn't follow the cricket so only around for the last couple of days. Tried to post yesterday but the board wouldn't let me then ended up going out to a friends party and today I have been listening to TMS whilst starting to sort my house out (moving next week from Connecticut to New York, where I start a new job where technically I will be working for the US govt)

For Capy, I will still be looking for strange quarks 50% of my time, the other 50% I will be working on getting funding for a new particle accelerator which will start in 15 years time if I (and currently 3 others also working on it) can convince the US to fund it (about $700 million). Should be fun and should learn a lot about politics along the way. Big landmark in 5 years time, so have to do a lot of work for that, first.

re: YORKSHIRE V Sussex (2007).

The_Informer.

Apparently it was a bit comical towards the end. Yorkshire had little intention of trying to win and were more concerned with getting the over rate up to a level where they would not be penalised, due to slow bwling earlier in the match.

Tomo, you've confused a few COUites.

Morning all.

Still can't get on COU to see the carnage.

I see Vaughny has jumped before he was pushed. Probably a good thing in the long run - prolong his test career.

Aggers is mentioning Cook amongst others as one to be given a chance at the top of the order. If anything Cook is less attacking than Vaughan - can't fathom that one. Bopara up the order at 3 might be an option though followed by KP, Colly and Freddie (when fit). Without Trescothic we look short of idea's on openers though. Maybe Solanki is worth another go and if Prior gets the gloves then he's opened for Sussex in the one day stuff?

T4Tomo Posted on 19/6 15:11
re: YORKSHIRE V Sussex (2007).

Oh aye, thats a given Ray, I'm vaughny said I'll only go if you give the captaincy to my mate Colly. Still doesn't address the lack of dynamism in our top order though.

Still beggars belief that the ECB don't have a domestic one day tournament with power plays though, and they wonder why our batsmen and bowlers struggle to adapt to the international game.
