The full package would have been but he came without any legs.

re: was Mendietta a spectacular signing?

He was spectacular in the sense that a 28m 48-cap international was coming to a small town in Europe, yes. He was doing ok until he picked up the injury. I thought, at the time, it was yet another brilliant bit of business.

re: was Mendietta a spectacular signing?

Yes he was.

re: was Mendietta a spectacular signing?

The pass in the second minute at cardiff was spectacular enough for me.

re: was Mendietta a spectacular signing?

i remember at the time mates of mine who support other teams were very impressed when we got him and wondered how we'd managed to get him for nothing. by their reaction i would say yes it was spectacular

re: was Mendietta a spectacular signing?

My girlfriend informs me that he's a very good looking bloke, though she thinks his hair was a bit thin for the long look when he arrived.

re: was Mendietta a spectacular signing?

Definitely was. Plenty of spectacular signings don't work out as planned though. Just look at almost every Newcastle transfer in the past few years.

re: was Mendietta a spectacular signing?

Definitely a spectacular signing.

Forza's wrist is still sore now.

re: was Mendietta a spectacular signing?

He was a fanstastic signing the only problem was we gave him 2 years too long on his contract.

we didn't know he'd pick up a bad injury.....great signing......short memories on here

re: was Mendietta a spectacular signing?

silly question, of course he was. He was about the third most expensive player in the world, he had captained Valencia to two champs league finals as their star man, he had just been in the Barca first team, he was in the spanish squad and he only 28 year old (?).

re: was Mendietta a spectacular signing?

he was a great player in his early to mid 20's but never got that form back. Lazio knew what they were doing when they let him go on a free to us even though he cost about 28m 2 years early. I think mfc learnt from that not to offer such big contracts

re: was Mendietta a spectacular signing?

Saying his hair's thin is an understatement. It's like yellow smoke.

re: was Mendietta a spectacular signing?
