Boro Brick Road deadline

Fans have only a few days remaining to book their places on the next phase of the Boro Brick Road, which will be in place when the 2007-08 Barclays Premier League season kicks off on August 11.

Over 5,000 bricks are already in place, inscribed with the names of Boro fans from around the world with their messages of undying love and support for MFC.

More than 400 bricks were added to the eye-catching feature when the latest phase was put in place last week.

The next phase will include bricks in tribute to former stars Rolando Ugolini, Uwe Fuchs and Gary Hamilton after the trio topped a fans’ poll to vote for the next former Boro stars to be added to the 50 already in place.

Fans’ brick orders must be delivered to the club by Monday July 2 to have a brick in place for the start of the new campaign. Bricks cost from £39.95 with order forms available from MFC Retail, the Riverside reception and

Boro fans from as far afield as Australia, Canada and Saudi Arabia have already taken the opportunity to grab their own small place in the club’s future by purchasing a brick in the shadow of the magnificent Ayresome Park gates.

Watched over by the statues of Boro legends Wilf Mannion and George Hardwick, their bricks sit alongside those of heroes of the past such as Juninho, John Hendrie, Graeme Souness and Gareth Southgate, while their messages vary between the emotional, the evocative and the downright wacky.

Among the most popular to accompany the names of fans is wording like “Forever Boro”, “Come on Boro”, “Up the Boro”, “We love U Boro” and “You are my Boro”.
