Tennis - is it a game for men?

I'm not the only one to have been brought up to believe that tennis is a women's game and I still can't get past that. The only lads at school to play tennis were called Nigel, Simon or Timothy and if there were more they kept it well hidden.

Blokes just don't look right poncing around the court after a ball do they? Whereas there is a certain grace when watching the ladies doing the same. It just looks better.

It must be the only sport where women look comfortable playing it and not having to overcome the 'manly' image of the game.

Yes?

For Homosexuals or those who live in the home counties only.

It's a game for ruddy-faced spinsters.

your all talking out yer cake hole, fantastic game to play, requires strong shoulders, wrists, legs, back. Wimps get thrashed.

Proper toffs game and anyone who is from Boro aint a toff.

there is very little in life more manly than smashing a serve at 120mph past someone.

I guess you're atennis player then Boromart? Or should that be Nigel?

I'm more of a tennis fan than a Boro fan, to be honest. I find football a bit wimpy these days with all the feigning of injuries, diving and tantrums. Tennis is a sport for adults.

I'd love to see some of the "men" on this board face a Roddick or Federer serve.

It was never seen as a girl sport in my school. Often played at Albert park myself. In fact i fancy a game now!!!

Anyone for tennis........

Yep just look at the wimps who have played the game, Sampras, Federer, Roddick, Nadal etc. I actually do play tennis quite a lot and most tennis players I know can more than hold their own on a football pitch. (Goran Ivanisevic anyone)

However its a fair point that the game in Britain does have a certain stigma attached to it about it being a game for toffs, maybe thats why in general as a nation were not very good at it.

Finally there is no way the womens game looks better (from a sports point of view obviously), the mens game has more pace, variety and unpredictability about it.

Proof that it is a mens sport:- Have you ever seen a Tennis Coach without a gaggle of MILFs trying to get to play with his hairy balls. I rest my case.

What in Gods name are MILFS???

I'd rather face a Roddick serve than a Brett Lee bouncer any day of the week.

re: Tennis - is it a game for men?

in my opinion tennis is only second to football in terms of spectator sports, also very enjoyable to play, and satisfying. Any idea that its for girls is total pants, the mens game is played with unbelievable power.
I've played since i was a kid and have never encountered many toffs playing at all.
