| Tuncay on the right | |
This isn't a problem, Downing saw plenty of the ball on the left so will Tuncay on the right as soon as they get used to playing with him. We need to drop Boateng and either play Arca and Rochemback or buy a new midfielder entirely. Every moved slowed when it got to Boateng.

He didn't have a bad game as such it's just he doesn't fit in with the high tempo we were playing in the first half, Downing, Tuncay, Aliadiere and Arca are all clever, quick thinking players.

He's a good player but didn't look like it was his best position tbh. Still, it at least gave us something of an outlet.

I'd like to see him in the middle. He's got a bit of pace and doesn't mind a tackle. The wing will restrict him as it did Zenden. On yesterday's game I'd give him a run instead of Arca. Boateng surprised me with his fitness, he was all over the place. I criticised him a lot last year, maybe it was the injury he was carrying. Arca, while canny on the ball, looks well short of pace for the style we played yesterday. We still need a right side player.

I thought he did ok yesterday, though that said he did look sometimes as if he was running with a backpack on-labouring somewhat.

Boat was in my top few players yesterday thought he was awsome at breaking up their midfield. Ali looks very good and very fast I just dont know if he can play football. I was also disappointed in Tuncay. thought he lost his bottle in front of goal when he passsed it accross the face. If he is a good striker why did he not have a shot. worst that would have happened is the keeper made a save. iam sure he will get better tho.

Some of these posts are unclear whether you are referring to boat or tuncay. I was ver surprised by Boateng: he looked much fitter and stronger than he has done for ages.. one of our better players. Tuncay was very good and will be a big player for us... get behind him, he will give everything for us, and that will inspire his teammates too.

Tuncay will be stronger when he has Young behind him. I think yesterday he was told to be abit more defence and help Davies out and that is why he seemed to hold back abit about attacking Blackburn but I really think he will be a great signing for us.

Im with Corcaigh_the_Cat 100%. Tuncay should be in the middle, he's not affraid to get stuck in either. Then how about Arca back at left back

Just been watching a couple of clips of Tuncay on youtube. Admittedly, the clips show only his goals and not his impressive work rate when not in possession nor, more importantly, in which zones of the pitch he spend most of his time. However, it is clear the areas he makes runs from prior to scoring the majority of the goals on display are from the centre of the pitch and the left hand side. He's a tall bloke with an impressive strike rate who can play second striker alongside target men like van Hooijdonk and Anelka. If Yak is not completely committed to the cause we cannot afford to carry him any more than we can afford to miss Viduka's goals this year. GS is not stupid. He will know the truth in the Yak situation and what he tells the cameras will be in the interest of MFC. He will never come out and say 'yeah, Yak wants out and is fed up' because it weakens our bargaining position. If Yak is truthfully happy then that is great news for us as he does score goals. But if he isn't, this is the way to go for me. ....................Yak/Aliadiere/Mido ...........Tuncay....................... Downing....Arca.....Boateng....New signing Taylor.....Huth......Woodgate......Young That to me looks quite a good team on paper. I know selling Yak sounds insane at the moment but if Southagte could invest the money from the transfer shrewdly we could be onto a winner. | re: Tuncay on the right
think the most positive aspect to it was that he tried to stay as wide as possible, which stretched the defence and gave downing more space to play in.how many times last season did the left side get too congested coz there was no threat down the right.

Maybe play Adam Johnson on the right?

We should definitely drop Boateng but Rochemback isn't the answer either. He slows the play down as much as Boateng when he receives the ball.

I thought Boateng put in a lot of effort but still gave poor / impossible passes and lost the ball in a key area for them to go on and score their first goal. Savage and Dunn will be the worst midfield we'll play against this season; both slower than previous seasons, so it's going to be a long, hard season unless something changes in midfield. I'd have taken Boateng off at the end yesterday and tried Tuncay there for the last 7 minutes.
