McLaren Is Losing It, But To Be Fair

Very few of the England players deserved their place.

I have not really followed international football closely for a while now.

Fans do not appear able to unite to support the country, Liverpool fans boing Neville etc and the English press is a total disgrace.

But currently the players are too comfortable in their positions. It is a joke that Owen is allowed to use England to get match fit, players should be 100% on form and fit for any England game.

I would rather see the big names left out, Lampard, Owen etc and players with less ability but fight and passion and honour in pulling the shirt on playing.

Robinson is still the best English keeper so I would stick with him.

Richards appears to have the ability, Ferdinand is one of the players I would be leaving out Ashley Cole as well.

Beckham, Lampard, Joe Cole, Owen should all be left out too.

I think it is time to pick the best team, not the best players.

They should not be playing then, which is down to Maclaren.

re: McLaren Is Losing It, But To Be Fair

I'm not sure it is down to McLaren 100%, no manager would have played Owen last night, surely. I think there must be some pressure on him to pick certain players.

McLaren is paid to get it right though, and he is close to losing is job.

As for Beckham, I'm going on what the radio 5 commentators were saying.

If it's not Maclaren picking the team or certain players then there is a massive problem at the F.A which comes as no shock to me.

This is one of the reasons why i'm loosing my passion for the game i used to adore.

The two blocks of empty corporate seats at the start of the second-half epitomises the modern game - too busy eating prwn sarnies and quaffing chablis - the people who run the game are getting the game they deserve.

Mac was always going to be a puppet and a muppet - but his decisons are becoming increasingly dictated by the media and probably the inner circles of the FA.

Has the time come to pull out of international football?

of course certain players must play Lampard, Gerrard, Ferdinand and Owen - they make the FA a lot of money through advertising. It's all about the money.

And there-in-lies the problem.

I feel sorry for McLaren, his reputation will never recover from this*

the press decided from day one he would be the next Graham Taylor.

* granted the money he is paid means he won't have to work again, but I am sure he would want to.
