re: GOOD MORNING

I'm good. But with Juninho just being injured, he won't be playing at Brizzy 22nd Sept. We had a big Boro get together arranged to meet up with him as well. Bugger. Great game against Brum, I hope we can keep it up or even get better

Middlesbrough boss: Face-to-face meeting convinced me about Mido
tribalfooball.com - September 04, 2007

Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate admits he knew Mido was the right signing after a face-to-face meeting with the former Tottenham striker.

Southgate said: "The face-to-face meeting is the most important thing, I think, and the characteristics he showed me in that meeting are what he has brought into the club.

"He has given everybody a huge lift. It is important you have somebody who leads from the front - and there are not a great number of leaders from the front, that's the way the game is changing a bit.

"You need centre forwards to get hold of the ball - Mark (Viduka) was a similar type in that he wanted to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and could be vocal in the dressing room as well.

"Those things are important. Very often, you have centre-halves who are leaders - it comes naturally with the position - but you need it throughout the spine of your team."

Aliadiere desperate to break Middlesbrough duck
tribalfooball.com - September 04, 2007

In-form Middlesbrough striker Jeremie Aliadiere admits he's desperate to break his scoring duck.

"I'm trying my very, very best. I thought Birmingham was going to be the day. I had a few chances but the ball just wouldn't go into the back of the net," he told mfc.co.uk.

"I've been working hard since I've been here and done my best in every training session.

"But the goals will come, I'm sure about that. As long as we're winning, I'm a happy boy.

"Gareth and the club have given me the opportunity to play every weekend and I want to take that chance and do the business on the pitch."

On his flourishing partnership with Mido, Aliadiere added: "We get on quite well together. I think we're both different types of striker. I like making runs behind him and I try and create space for him as well.

"We have an attacking mentality and want to go forward at every opportunity. When we're on the ball we want to make runs, stretch teams and go for goals.

"When you have a game like this, you want to have another one very soon. We're very confident and already looking forward to the trip to West Ham."

Middlesbrough signing O'Neil: I didn't want to leave Portsmouth
tribalfooball.com - September 04, 2007

New Middlesbrough signing Gary O'Neil admits he never wanted to leave Portsmouth.

"I got a phone call from my agent that Portsmouth had accepted an offer from both Fulham and Middlesbrough," O'Neil told The News.

"I certainly wasn't expecting anything to happen - I was getting ready for the Arsenal game. I was just sat at home on a day off and got the phone call that the offers had been accepted.

"If the club accepts an offer, you haven't really got any options. But it's not personal - the club have got ambitions. They've spent a lot of money this summer and they obviously needed to get some back.

"I'm a little bit disappointed to leave when I've been there so long and had some good times there, but this is a new challenge now and I'm looking forward to it."
