For the last time this season, I thank you...

Lancs and Durham have been WARNEd, Yorkshire are on the prowl for the title and will celebrate with a LAMB CARBERRY. No doubt it will be a close run thing, there will be some BROWN trouser moments but a world class Yorkshire performance will see the challengers barely CRAWLEY over the line.

STUART CLARKEs confidence will be left in ASHES after Yorkshires openers teach him a thing or two, and as GOUGH rolls back the clock the Hampshire top order will fear for their ADAMS apple and LATOUF as the BALCOMBEs on to them in a second.

LUMB will be TREMLETTing in his boots and will want to BURROWS his way out of Headingley after collecting a pear on his Championship return

Well, it's been raining down here in the South East this morning.

The final matches of all three of the teams above Yorks in the table are down in the south east of england, so if we get four days of rain down here and four fine days up at Headingley, and Yorks win their match, then the title is theirs!

re: YORKSHIRE V Hampshire (2007).

Time for Inzi to deliver on what was no doubt a lucrative short term contract.

I'm not sure of the value in this short term replacement stuff. OK Inzi was here for a few games and we are a bit short of batting. Certainly can't see why we signed Tahir for efectively one game - Lawson or Wainwright would have been just as effective having taken the decision to go with 2 spinners down in hants. Its a big ask for someone to come in and be on fire from the off on unfamiliar pitches / conditions.

Sayers has badly tailed off in the second half of the season - damn the press articles hailing him as the new Boycott.

I think he just darent face batting last against Warne after the shambles against sussex.

I think we were very badly affected by the rain which led to all those floods and left players without any chance to play for a couple of weeks. Some counties managed to get the odd day but we were rained off right through.

This game is for who finishes 4th now anyway.

If we finish fifth, that is only one place better than last year. I would have taken that in December but after the return of Goughy, McGrath's change of heart and the overseas players coming in, followed by the start we had, fifth would be very disappointing.

So Ray - where do you see the title going ??

Raining as Hove but I expect Sussex to declare now (as they already have full batting points) to try and bowl out woeful Worcs twice.

Lancashire struggling.

Durham need full batting points and a victory.

T4Tomo Posted on 20/9 14:31
re: YORKSHIRE V Hampshire (2007).

All rounder? - he's a decent bowler but hardly a batter.

Interestimng choice - I'll have thought with our bowling depth we'd have tried to keep Younis. We are a bit light on the batting front if Younis goes and White potentially retires (can't be far away). Puts a lot of reliance on Gale and Sayers, neither of which have been convincing this season despite Joe's cracking start, and on Brophy and Rashid chipping in with decent tallies.

ray192 Posted on 20/9 14:34

Where do you see the title going now Ray. Can still go 3 ways but looks more likely Sussex or Durham.

I take it you don't want to see Durham with 3 trohies then ??!!

Lanc haven't got a hope from here surrey are effectively 300ish for 2 with a day and a 2 sessions to go. They'll bat Lancy out of it and hope they collapse a bit tomorrow.

It boils down to whether sussex can bowl worcs out twice in the time remaining - they have them 5 down but the opener is still in which makes life a bit more diffcult.

I'd like to see Durham win it - better a northern team than Chris Adams and his Sussex/ Pakistan chums

Mackems or chuckers and navvies? Not a pleasant thought. Curse all that rain and that blimmin' Pro40 - where 'Pro' presumably means 'professional' whose antithetical (if that's a word) approach to selection was adopted - game.
