MIMA

Great addition to the town, or the biggest white elephant you`ve ever seen?

re: MIMA

depends if they decide to built on it and improve the area around it. something like knocking down the magistrates court and old police station and build something to compliment the MIMA.

re: MIMA

Ugliest white elephant.

Been in three times, left completely underwhelmed.

I hope at one stage it gets a decent exibition. So far it has done nothing for those who live in the town, and it does not attract much in the way of visitors.

A 'normal' mixed art gallery would have been better. Where modern art took up just some of the space.

re: MIMA

Why did you go in 3 times if you hate it?

radiogaga Posted on 17/10 13:14
re: MIMA

Twice because the exibitions changed, and the third time to take a visitor from outside the area.

I will go again when a new exibition comes.

I've been twice.

Thoroughly disappointing.

re: MIMA

I went three times as well but each time my trip was spoilt by some sour faced moaning so n so, who was hanging around the place.

radiogaga Posted on 17/10 13:28
re: MIMA

That was probably me then. Was he talking aloud to himself saying things like, "What a waste of money, what's that supposed to be, call that art?" and "HOW MUCH FOR A MILK JUG?".

re: MIMA

maybe if radiogaga and capio didnt go together they might enjoy it more.

He bought me a posh coffee from the cafe.

Been three times, some I liked, some I didn't, that's art for you.

re: MIMA

Can you honestly say it was just what the town needed? Complete waste of money.

sasboro Posted on 17/10 14:27
re: MIMA

what was needed instead? more pubs? a new dundas arcade? a bowling alley?

wokingmassive Posted on 17/10 14:27
re: MIMA

I went in when it first opened - thought it was a great building - but it was a bit like my fridge - I dont mean that the light comes on when you open the door - I mean that its quite empty.

re: MIMA

A swimming pool?

sasboro Posted on 17/10 14:52
re: MIMA

would be cool to have an open air one like in scarborough with a fun slide

The_lawmaker Posted on 17/10 14:57
re: MIMA

How about "chavworld" the worlds first chav theme park!!!! Very little, if any work would have to go into it. just charge visitors a tenner to walk around Middlesbrough town centre for an afternoon.

guaranteed money spinner that one

radiogaga Posted on 17/10 14:59
re: MIMA

Sunderland do a free Chavworld.

re: MIMA

Ah but we are officially now the worst place in the world or something.
People will pay good money to see our chavness and obese children.

re: MIMA

Went for the first time at the weekend...beautiful building which makes it all the more disappointing how underwhelming the exhibitions are. Definitely welcome its construction as we need more "aspiration projects" like this but you have to fill it with something half-way decent.
