Will you re-new if we go down?

I will, I've followed them through thick and thin since I was 7 in 1977, so no question I'll be getting a season ticket. I go to every home game anyway no matter which league we're in, so I might as well re-new.

I must be one of the 'hardcore' I suppose, which I reckon there's around 15,000.

Are you one?

re: Will you re-new if we go down?

I dont deny newcastle had low crowds in the 80s but its the 00s now and we have survived and have huge crowds, and that doesnt look like changing any time soon.

Boro - minus TV Money = Surivable with cut in wage bill
Boro - minus TV Money and Lower attendances = Huge Loss every game

Gibson isnt rich in football standards and doesnt solely own Bulkhaul, if they start making a loss he cant carry on for very long unless he wants to go backrupt with the club. 2 years tops he could last as Life Support

re: Will you re-new if we go down?

uzumaki, twice since the start of the season your lot have been linked with a sell on(incidentally your latest chairman is not fat enough yet to just sit in his club shirt, get him to greggs.)In the next ten years I predict our club will still be a better run club than yours.
Newcastle has always been a poorly run club that took its fans for granted.Even the "mine workers" son(his father was actually a manager) only put money into the club as an investment, which is why he sold it on.Oh yeah,I'll watch them in the conference as long as I have the money.

ExFootyLegs Posted on 23/10 22:28

The only renewal i will have is a renewed confidence that gibson mugs you all out of your money...he appoints a mug, and you lot just follow like sheep ! if we didnt go, something would change, gibson might just have a think about whether he has actually got it wrong. sorry , no, he is never wrong...even if we go into the championship.

Little_P Posted on 23/10 22:30
re: Will you re-new if we go down?

Oh yes.

A year in the Championship wouldn't be so bad. Remember the game when we beat Oxford to get back into the Premier League. Nil-nil at half time, the Makems were two up at Swindon. Came out second half and won four-one. We went up and the Makems didn't. All night long we sang Peter Reid's gotta fukcing monkeys head, a fukcing monkeys head, a fukcing monkeys head. Fantastic day.

BTW we wont go down though.

ExFootyLegs Posted on 23/10 22:39

Little_P = deluded. Listen mate, boro are down. No fight in the dressing room (boateng is finshed) and No leader, mate we are going down. No question, you tell me what hope you see for boro staying up. No fight and battle and pride in us, leaking goals from everywhere, top players like woodgate non-existant, CANT SCORE GOALS other than the odd one from Mido = RELEGATION and you bury your head in the sand and deny its happening in front of your eyes. just like gibson.

re: Will you re-new if we go down?

I will definitely be renewing next season, but i think ill b happier parting with my money if were in the championship. Sounds strange but the shine of the Premier Leagues washing off and im sick of the predictability. The Championship was great last year and looks as though it will b this season aswell. Plus our last stint in the second tier wasnt exactly boring now was it? Also, if we go down alot of the mercenaries will be off and we'll have to play more youngsters. A local team with local players and local fans.

Btw we wont go down. Too many worse teams than us. Sunderland, Derby, Birmingham, Fulham, Bolton to name a few

Lockey_boro Posted on 23/10 23:07

It wont even come down to there been worser teams than us (although there are), were having a bad run of games at the moment heads are down and thats all its down to.we need a scrappy win and it will kick start our season, thats the when fighting spirit will show.

I won't renew my ST's next season regardless.

a) I am at every home match anyway as I have secured a contract working on the TV gantry for the next 3 years.

b) Buying my ST early this year to secure the discount only to find that people could still buy them at the reduced rate after the dealine.

c) There has been little investment in the team and I predict this will continue.

I'm not a season ticket holder, but I'm more likely to get one and travel home every other weekend if we do go down. At least in the championship we'll have a better chance of seeing some good competitive football and a successful season.

We're just not cutting it in the premier league at the moment and it's depressing!

re: Will you re-new if we go down?

If we had played them they would have 3 points extra each and be above us.

The only way I would ever set foot in the Riverside again is if we DID get relegated as I don't see the point in paying to watch games where my own team start the season with no intention of trying to win it and are content to just finish 4th from bottom to stay there.

The Premiership is meaningless and the sooner the 10 so-called big clubs depart to a "franchised" league of their own created by Sky taking Celtic and Rangers out of Scotland with them the better.

The number should be next to client code so it should read client code A then the number mine is 6000 and something but during the first year at the riverside it was 14,000 which shows how many have dropped or not renewed since then.

Client code A means you renewed when we went down and that is the true test of loyalty, like you mate i will be there no matter what the division.

re: Will you re-new if we go down?

alrite lads im a sunderland fan and obviously been supporting the club in the prem and div 1 over the last few years and i agree with alot of u about the premiership these days. take sunderland for example last season was fantastic esp after new year even tho crowds may not be as big as they may have been in the prem the fans that were ther wer enjoying the fball bein played which creates a good atmosphere anyway. now in the prem its different you dont expect to win as many games the atmosphere at the bigger clubs isnt what it is when you take thousands to smaller clubs in div 1.im not just saying it cos our manager said it but football isnt the same esp in the top tier

Otley_Boro Posted on 24/10 13:18
re: Will you re-new if we go down?

I can see that point of view. But if Boro were to go down we'd loose half of our first team and at best we'd effectively be a rollacoasta club again. With not much chance of winning anything or getting to any finals/Europe. Whilst we are still in the PL we have that hope.

SAFC_1984 Posted on 24/10 13:27
re: Will you re-new if we go down?

yeh its a point but thats what happens if a club goes down it happened to us it happened to leeds west ham a few year bk too. if it does happen then its how the club reacts to it i was just thinking about it from a fans view you wud see your team win more! last season we took 11000 to barnsley 6000 to preston leeds sheff wed and derby and you know numbers like that make for a cracking atmosphere so going down doesnt mean its all bad but then again from a club point of view with the money, playes contracts and the tag of bein relegated isnt what the club wants!

London_Boro Posted on 24/10 13:29
re: Will you re-new if we go down?

We've been down before. And IF we go again I'm sure we'll have the backing and players to get us back up again.

Fear not folks!!!!

We need to get relegated for any of this to happen and I truly believe there are worse teams than ours in this league who will struggle more than us as the season goes on.

keane wont be going to manage ireland and sunderland havnt been terrible at all! how have sunderland been terrible? we have already played 4 of the top 5 last season and put in a more than respectable performance in all them games i think we will be 14th 15th come may a few more additions in january and creative players to come bk from injury and kenwyne jones to reach 15 goals to keep us away from the bootom 3 i see the same for boro too about 14th 15th

re: Will you re-new if we go down?

although both clubs are on the same points it seems boro fans are very negative about there chances and the way things ar going at the moment whereas sunderland seem a bit more positive

JonMc Posted on 24/10 14:10
re: Will you re-new if we go down?

The reason why SAFC fans remain so positive is that most of us feel that RK is a quick learner. At this stage last season we were very much going a step forward one week, a step back the next losing to teams like Ipswich and Norwich much in the same way that we lost to WHU last week.

RK will take this on board and we will improve as the season wears on. We deserved something from WH and those points will eventually come.

im still 100% behind roy keane our luck will change soon hopefully this saturday if we can play like we did on sunday i see us beating fulham what annoys me is alot of people still think that this is the same club that embarressed us the last two times we were in the prem but its diff now

Camsell_345 Posted on 24/10 14:24
re: Will you re-new if we go down?

our luck will change soon,

i would say that you have rode your luck already this season, late goals v spurs and the facrcical goal/foul at brum, plus the last gasp fluke v us as well.

JonMc Posted on 24/10 14:27
re: Will you re-new if we go down?

Last minute goals, we certainly seem to have a bit of a reputation for them. Last season and this one too. Are they flukes or a desire to keep going until the final whistle blows? I'd like to think that RK has instilled a bit of respect into SAFC that has been missing in previous campaigns.

your talking rubbish ther like we werent lucky against spurs we were the better team and didnt stop going and we wer rewarded in the end i admit we have made a few silly mistakes but we have no been lucky at all i think another thing is your manager can you really see him getting stuck into the team and the team respecting him?

robert_hoffman Posted on 24/10 14:41
re: Will you re-new if we go down?

keano has sunderland playing for full 90 mins, and they are scoring goals, so they is pride and passion.. the players are playing to the best of they ability...maybe not winning but not going out in a whimper..

boro on the other hand no pride or passion and southgate is not a premiership manager, boro will not win anything under his reign.. he was chosen cause they was no one else...

this is the second season i have not had a season ticket before then i had one for 11 years..until boro play better i will stay away, 30 i can enjoy myself alot on that and not prepaired to watch boro get beat week in week out..

RedWurzel Posted on 24/10 14:43
re: Will you re-new if we go down?

I can't understand this Sunderland unlucky thing, because of one game. I thought Sunderland were lucky to get a point at Brum and Boro and lucky to get 3 at home to Spurs. That balances out at 3 lucky points from their 8 to date. Granted they have played 3 of the top 4. I expect them to finish about 15th.

What is worrying for Sunderland is that they were expected to do a Reading and finish comfortably top half after winning the Championship so easily, while we were expected to finish below them around 14th. It looks like I will win quite a bit laying (betting against punters backing them on the exchanges) them to finish top 6 which is almost impossible now.

Even if the worse happened which I don't think it will, its very likely I would renew, to me a proper supporter follows his team through thick and thin. Even if I didn't renew I would still go to most of the Boro games. One proper supporter is worth 100 armchair/sky fans taht I see all around me away from Teesside.

SAFC_1984 Posted on 24/10 14:43
re: Will you re-new if we go down?

keane does have the players fighting and goin for 90 mins or more! its true what you say boro dont seem to have that at the minute and i reckon thats down to the manager at the end of the day the fans wana see players playing with passion and commitment

uzumaki Posted on 24/10 15:45
re: Will you re-new if we go down?

I dont care about population size it doesnt matter because thats not my point. As long as Newcastle 52,387 week in week out Newcastle will continue to survive. If Newcastles population was 1 billion and only 52,387 came then so be it, the club will survive. 52,387 people paying week in and week out Plus the huge sky money is easy enough to run a club.

Middlesbrough in the championship as people on here state would only get 15,000 and that many people paying revenue isnt enough to keep a club with that size stadium going for long, as the club will make huge losses every game.

I'd go as far to say barring the top 4, Newcastle, man city, everton, west ham and spurs the Sky money keeps a lot of clubs in profit. Without that when they are relegated they have to get rid of a lot of players to stay even thats even with attendances staying high.

Boros attendances wouldnt stay high and the loss of revenue would mean Liquidation.

JonMc Posted on 24/10 15:50
re: Will you re-new if we go down?

Getting back to the thread title - it's not going to happen though is it. The boro aren't going to be relegated this season. You'll flirt with the bottom three just like you did last season but you have players good enough to keep you up no matter how insipid Southgate might be.

Middlesbrough managed to survive for over 100 years before Sky's money.

"15,000 and that many people paying revenue isnt enough to keep a club with that size stadium going for long, as the club will make huge losses every game."

Darlington don't make a huge loss for every game and they only fill around 15% of the stadium. Please do go-on.

Middlesbrough are my home town club i was born here and love the Boro . Ive seen it alot worse than the current situation , people need to look at the whole picture ie how much the club has progressed in the last 15 years not just say everythings crap and moan all day
