Christmas party season.....

* Rubs hands together and prepares himself for a month and a half of free booze *

skiprat Posted on 8/11 14:19
re: Christmas party season.....

We aren't having one this year, which means I don't have to put up with people in the office with no lives talking about it for weeks before and then weeks after, because they've never been on a night out before.

I'm off on 6 at the last count - bonus !

Too much hand shaking, and wishing all the best to people who you detest.

The_Lizards_Jumpers Posted on 8/11 14:22

I honestly dont really get that, I normally just avoid them types and stick with the people I like.

bandito Posted on 8/11 14:38

TOP TIP:

Go out regularly during the year. This gives you the opportunity to go out with real friends and have a much better night.

Oh look it's Bandy, the man against everything and everyone

Vincent75 Posted on 8/11 14:40
re: Christmas party season.....

That's a good point, bandito.

The low alcohol tolerance of the knobhead who ends up monged after 4 pints is a dead-giveaway that christmas is the only time they get out.

Pauluka Posted on 8/11 14:42
re: Christmas party season.....

He's talking about free booze, nowt wrong with that

sasboro Posted on 8/11 14:42

Agreed, it's normally the bloke who starts the conga or insists you go to a strip bar that reveals he's only been let out once all year previously.

Oh hello Sas, as if by magic........

re: Christmas party season.....

Our Christmas party this Year is going to be a box seat for the West Ham game on the 22nd, because of the amount of staff (5 or 6), we thought it would be ideal, seeing as one of the Directors already has a box.

Then I'd imagine back to Yarm for a night of booze paid for by the bosses!

Suuuuper!

Do you still love your job, Tubby Tony?

haha! knew you were going to type that

i think i am off to 2 or maybe 3, can't make 2 others and not fussed about a 3rd one.

then there is the boronation one at SteveG's house which should be good.

rahter have the hard cash in a pay packet than the incentive of a free booze

what better way to celebrate the birth of Jesus

The_Lizards_Jumpers Posted on 8/11 15:14
re: Christmas party season.....

How about both, or do you request an extra £9.11 in your pay packet to make up for the fact that your collegues drank 3 bottles of beer and you didnt go to the party ?

sasboro Posted on 8/11 15:19
re: Christmas party season.....

£9.11 is a lot of money in my pay packet.

Psychologically a night on the free booze sounds better than a £100 xmas bonus. I remember i once got a nasty bottle of wine for xmas from work..I thought WOW thats really an incentive to work harder

Vincent75 Posted on 8/11 15:20
re: Christmas party season.....

Does anyone work with any Jehovah's witnesses or muslims, and do they have the cheek to turn up at the party?

The_Lizards_Jumpers Posted on 8/11 15:21
re: Christmas party season.....

I know plenty of muslims who turn up, but they do it in the same way they'll have a turkey dinner and give presents at the same time of the year.

The_Lizards_Jumpers Posted on 8/11 15:22
re: Christmas party season.....

But you dont get the choice, or do you have a proviso put in your contract Sas ?

sasboro Posted on 8/11 15:25
re: Christmas party season.....

I've got a free booze night out, just dont see the point in getting all excited about free booze when will struggle to spend £100-£150 worth of booze which is about £10-£12 a month of someone salary.

I'm looking forward to ours...

Kensington Roof Gardens, in london. Was there on Friday night as well. Its brilliatnt.

Thats the company one, but the T5 one is at lego land i think.. Again should be a laugh.

And like someone said earlier, I only socialise with the people i like and have a good time with. Tell the boss what he wants to hear for 5 minutes then go and get some gash.

re: Christmas party season.....

When I was at Air Products we had a graduate scheme night out. It was in a Greek restaurant, free food and drink and unfortunately there was 2 hardcore Israelis and a Moslem. The last thing I can remeber (after my 3rd bottle of wine plus beer and ouzo) was shouting at the Israelis about Palestinian rights and trying to force booze down the moslems neck. Needless to say I left shortly after

Not at all sas.

re: Christmas party season.....

clearly the ones who bang on about xmas dos at work are the ones who rarely go out then they talk about it for the next 3 months. Until they go on someone leaving do then they go on about that all the time.

PinkPonce Posted on 8/11 15:41
re: Christmas party season.....

I just like the xmas nights out - everything is usually much more relaxed. you've finished work for a couple of weeks (well i do) and its usually a good laugh..

If your post was aimed at me sas you are terribly mistaken...I mean i was on a leaving do last night. it was brilliant. e haven't shut up about it all day

No seriously - I get a bit sick of the nights out down here. Theres someone else leaving every week and i just can be arsed, I prefer to keep my nights out for weekends with the lads.

I'll happily go on the xmas nights out as they have been good fun in the past... Plus, seeing as though i get a cheeky 5% xmas bonus as well, I don't have to whinge and say i'd prefer the money.

Win Win.

Unlike yourself Sas, I bet you're out caning it every night. After all you are often very vocal in your support of pubs, nightclubs and other leisure pursuits.

Ours is usually at Tiger Tiger or some pointless place like that. Myabe get one drinks voucher as a thank you for lining the editors pocket and paying for his latest aston martin model.

PinkPonce Posted on 8/11 16:05
re: Christmas party season.....

I like ours cos

a) Theres loads of gash here
b) We go to nice venues
c) I work with a good group of lads and lasses

Office based staff in this industry generally enjoy it, whereas the knuckle dragging dirty people from "site" wouldn't cos they feel they don't fit in... they would much prefer 100 quid petty cash and go to the local... Hence why they aren't invited.

The_Lizards_Jumpers Posted on 8/11 16:05

I hate Tiger Tiger in Leeds Bandy.

One of ours last year was so good I booked the place for my wedding.

Tubby Tony!? You cheeky tvvat, it's relaxed muscle!!

I'm in a completely different job now, much more enjoyable, better money (..just) and better prospects. Out of the 37.5 hours a week I get paid for, I must work 10-15 at max, we have BBQ's through the Summer, nights out paid for, 30-50% off in most clothing outlets around Teesside and 2 'old skool' bosses.

So yes, in answer to your question 'Vinny', I am loving my job!

Vincent75 Posted on 8/11 16:07

Pinky, I don't think you'd fit in with the lads from the site. You aren't built for proper work.

PinkPonce Posted on 8/11 16:09
re: Christmas party season.....

We went to kensington roof gardens on friday night, where ours is... It was 40 quid for 3 vodkas and mixer...

BUT we ensure that we have a sponser... we just invite a couple of sub-contractors with decent sized accounts who have yet to final account them and they pay for everything. A few thousand pounds and a couple of months later, and I will settle the final account and screw the fookers over still.

Some of the guys I go drinking with down here are from site. Sparks, supervisors, pipefitters...

Yawn...

as a sign of "protest" we usually have our own night out. This turns into full day raz as opposed to the official "yeah I'll pop out for one or two after work" night. It basically eliminates any riff raff and seperates the wheat from the chaff

Sparkins... Yeah thats the one. Think its the wednesday night.

We went last year to the T5 one and it qwas actually really good. It was a jazz theme they had dancers and a band playing, a casino inside, and daft stuff like bumber cars! It was supposed to be a lego land last year as well but it got changed. Don't know if this years will though.

Was a really good night.

re: Christmas party season.....

Can't blame the lad for not getting in rounds, they're a messy situation.

Last weekend in Blackpool, four of us went in a round, at £3-4 a drink. It got that messy that we drift all over the place in bars/Clubs and argue over whose round it is next. I'm sure I bought 3 in a row at one point...

As Tommy from Early Doors says..."Noo thanks, I'll stay on me own!"

PinkPonce Posted on 9/11 10:40

Towz, i'm joking kid... I never dodge a round..

I just make sure i go out when we have a sponsor so i dont have to worry about it
