Switched the Legends on last night and just caught the end of Bernie saying something about the club not letting him do something (presumably to do with winning the sky trophy). Malcolm was taking the p!ss saying "You still haven`t taken the hint have you Bernie?"

Has the club snubbed him again?

It looks like the club are being really silly with him- he was invited to the presentation lunch but as the time clashed with the legends he asked to do a link from the ground- the club refused to allow a rival station such as century transmit from the Riverside. The club are being petty and stupid and only they will end up with blood on their nose as this vendeta is just going too far!

Why shouldn't we be? He's given a fair critique of the club through his radio programme for a few years now. The club would appear to be trying to pull the plug now that the going is a little hard.

maybe there is actually a contractural agreement between Boro and BBC Tees as part of their exclusive rights that prevents other stations doing particular types of broadcating from the club. All those crying about the century commentary - i think it is obvious to everyone that they wanted Newc and Sunlun commentary - on a day we were all playing i suspect Boro would have been without a commentary.
What right does Bernie have to a guaranteed commentary position for life?

Well, a week on Saturday, We're at Reading, Newcastle are at Blackburn and Sunderland have Derby at home.

They're all 3pm kick offs and Century can only do two commentaries.

Which ones do you think they would cover??

If it has no interest to you why are you commenting? It has interest to others because we listen to Boro radio coverage.

Gibson, or whoever at the club, decided to do a deal with the BBC instead of Century. For me, the BBC should do what Century did when Gibbo decided to take the match away from them some years ago, and that's change their commentator. Get Brownlie back to where he started with Cox back in the 80's. That was the best coverage but MFC decided to shift to Century.

Century brought Slaven in to add his analysis to the commentary, he's been independent and fair.

Calling the club stupid and petty is slagging them off, yes. Seems to me that the club invited him along, but because they wouldn't agree to his terms, he turned them down. Seems a fairly reasonable stance on both parts to be fair. The club wouldn't budge, neither would he. I don't suppose Slaven is furious about it.

Confirms we are a biggish club but with a very small mind. Christ it must be stale in that board room - wondering where next to point that finger of blame. Bernie is a prat but many of the club's fans like him, many of the fans still listen to Century and associate this legend cup win with the club. Was talking to someone who writes for the Gazette and told me what he thought about the current PR at the club.

Told me last week that the club is a joke and never gives any info or help regarding any news and reviews about what we the fans need or want to know.

Were helpful in the early days but over the last 18 months the club is being run by a Stalin like regime. His words not mine.

Not aloud to criticize the club apparently.

If the club took the best deal, putting more cash in the coffers, then that’s good enough for me.

I do find Slaven, centaury and co very hypocritical when they all come out and say “well no one has told me and the club should tell us why”

I don’t recall him and Century radio been that open when Gatesy got the boot from the show.

I can't believe how bothered some people are about this loss of century commentary afterall Ali himself started off on radio cleveland (as was), all that has happenedis a newcastle centric radio station (who no longer operate from teesside) chose to show their own teams name newcastle and sunlun at the detrimentof the club that had showed them loyalty when they were unble to show the other, by putting in a derisory token bid.

This was rightly rejected by the chairman of the club as he thought it devalued the club, which is his want to do. I personally can't see a problem with this.

Century put in a shyte offer, until they found out that Cleveland had put a bid in then they increased to get close to the BBC’s.

Because it has said by the club at the time, and not denied by Century when we had their Chief executive on air every opportunity that week.

I think that Steve Gibson and the Boro board have totally over-reacted to the perceived 'enemy within' that is Bernie Slaven.

Nevertheless, if they have an exclusive rights deal with BBC, it is understandable that they shouldn't allow Century to effectively broadcast live from the stadium for that event.

Understandable that Century should try it on, and see if they could get a broadcasting coup!

Understandable that the Club should say no and protect their relationship with BBC.

Totally bemusing, counter productive and small minded that Steve Gibson and Bernie shouldn't get together over a beer and a J20 and sort it out like men and move on!

This has obviously become personal now between the club and Slaven but Slaven has asked on numerous occasions and last night for a face to face chat with the club about the situation- no one has said anyhting to him or a press release so he is still confused to the clubs stance. They could quite of easily let him do a link from the ground but just tried to get one over on him. This all stems from the Abel Xavier interview last season which wassnt that bad really- pathetic!

situation as I see it. Contract up at the end of the season. Gibson fed up with bernie's supposed negativity an on air broadcasting of the viduka situation, thus putting pressure on lamb. Bernie not really having any in depth knowledge of the clubs financial situation, nor do any of us on here, gibson becoming increasingly pished off, thus giving him the excuse to say to cleveland, what can you offer us, they give us x amount of pounds, century opt higher but gibson remains firm on his stance and century are dumped.

Bandito- it was well documented that an interview live on air by Bernie on his friend Abel Xavier was the reason for the war- Xavier dished out some home truths about the club not offering Viduka/Parnaby/Sashwarzer/Graham/ and others new contracts after xmas and had left players and their families in the dark- Lamb was furious about it and the first part of the war started when Bernie was not allowed at the Riverside and certain areas of the ground to do interviews etc and meet plyers- this is how it all started

not really gone out of my way to do so, no. Not really. I've answered people back and gave as good as I've got but dont really see a point in getting personal with strangers. I grew out of that when i reached double figures.

If Viduka was that concerned, he could have taken the deal offered in January instead of holding out for the highest bidder in the summer.

Perhaps its Mr Viduka who could have given a little more thought to his childrens education?

And two and a half grand per month (about 2 days wages for our Aussie friends) will see them move into a five bedroom fully furnished detached house on a Wynyard type estate.

One can only imagine the uncertainty and sleepless nights for those two lads and families.

Which of those concerned have kids??

Viduka does, which I think ccole covers above.

Schwarzer has a contract until next year and can't be that concerned about uprooting his kids as he tried to leave during the January window.

Any of the others that were on the verge of leaving / who have left have kids??

Sorry but all that about players families and kids is utter s**te.

Most players wouldn't think twice about up and leaving in a hurry if they recieve a big fat offer from someone else, they look after themselves just as the club will do the same.

Most if not all of you will have slagged players off at some point for being greedy soft puffs letting their personal lives get in the way of 90 minutes on a Saturday when they are on huge wages, and now your using this as an argument, that you sympathise with them lying awake at night wondering if there kids will have to move school.

You're wrong, I often slag players off, a lot of our players at the moment aren't good enough, but I don't boo at games because it's pointless.

Also, because I defend the manager and the chairman, doesn't mean I defend the players.

The Question of Sport thing was the night before we played sunderland. It was a right night. Me and my mate got pissed up with hignett and hendrie. Eric Gates was there aswell, one of the biggest lightweights iv ever seen.

Imo the majority of the team isn't good enough. None of the strikers are, the midfield is lacking 2 central players. Schwarzer has possibly served his time here, he's been bo**ocks this season.

As i said earlier it was Abel Xavier who said this about his future and where he was living and brought Viduka into the equation- i presume xavier had offers so just needed to sort out where he was going to play and live -LA is along way away- its not Harrogate!!
