I think so, unless he has a major, and i mean major, upturn in form. Lets be honest, he was only in the England team because of his connections with Maclown. I can`t see any new gaffer being impressed with what he`s been doing in the premier league in the last 12 months. In fact i think his Boro place is under major threat now with Johnson`s return. | |

Very probably. However, sticking with a fairly paceless, wholly right footed left winger in Joe Cole, because he is a media darling, is surely not the answer. Harking back to the generally inept performance in the 0-0 draw with Macedonia, for which Downing got dogs abuse, I am trying to remember who put the one good cross of the game in, from which Gary Neville ballooned over from a yard. Can anyone help? | |

Downing will still have a chance, but only because we don't really have any other option. Can we wait and see what Johnson does now he's back in the Premier League as well before making wild statements. I hope he does brilliantly but let's not get carried away yet, we've seen what's happened to Downing, McMahon, Cattermole and Taylor after being praised too much, too soon. | |

Downing is the only Natural left sided player in the country and his performances up untill recently have been good for boro! The reason his performance has dropped is because of the fans getting on his back! in the 1st few games under mcclaren he created most of the goals we scored! Also his performaces would improve is he forgot about djing and stoped ramming chonga up his nose | |
