Reduce ticket prices now!!!

Would love to go every week, but have to pick and choose!!
Surely there are lots like me out there!!
When we were in the premier we were in a lot more afluent times.
I for one, had a better paid job, back then.
And also feel lucky and fortunate to still be employed unlike so many others!
Time for a reality check Gibson , and drop prices now while we are still in with a shout of the play offs[:(!]

Reduce ticket prices now!!!

Given the club needs every penny it can generate at the moment, allied to the fact reduced prices wont make that much difference to attendances I don't think that's a great idea.

Unless all the other clubs reduced their prices of course, then we wouldn't be at a disadvantage to our direct competitors.

Reduce ticket prices now!!!

Time for gibson to start putting money into the club and letting fans in for £1. Clearly he is milking the fans with these ticket prices and taking a profit every year. Talk of the club being in debt and losing money is part of a cover up to keep prices high

Perhaps if people actually turned up to support the team rather than whinging about ticket prices we might have a play off semi final to go to.

I feel sorry for people who would genuinely like to go but REALLY cannot afford it.

Whenever I see threads like this I automatically get an air of cynicism that comes over me. I'm not saying this is the case with everyone but I know a fair few people who use the ticket price as a conveniant excuse not to go. I wonder how many of the people who have said they cant afford the 30 quid to go to the home game will miraculously find a couple of hundered quid for a weekend in London if we get to the playoff final?

"A ticket for all three home games for £30"

Given that we currently average around 6500 match-by-match fans per game, we'd need over 11k extra fans to sign up to that scheme in order match what we currently take in reciepts. And I'd expect these 3 matches to be above the season's average in any case.

Choose cheaper tickets if you like, but you'd have to accpet squad cuts and poorer performance on the pitch as part of the deal.

"The MAIN excuse sorry reason people aren't going is because it's not premier league, no little fella and no foam hands! Go on ADMIT IT I dare you, no make that king dare you!!!"

Not strictly true, but that would alleviate the problem to an extent. The reason people aren't going is basically because it's boring, turgid, dog5hit viewing.

captain5 Posted on 31/03/2012 21:13
Reduce ticket prices now!!!

Exactly.

The daft thing is he could've said that they have some tickets available for £20 for some (3) games in the corners.

Fact is that generally speaking it's £30 a ticket minimum and for the biggest games the minimum price is £45.

captain5 Posted on 31/03/2012 21:15
Reduce ticket prices now!!!

The main reason people aren't going is not being in the Premiership, Senor.

Senor_Chester Posted on 31/03/2012 22:00
Reduce ticket prices now!!!

When people say the price is too high their generally referring to value for money, rather than making an excuse that they can't afford to go at all. If we were top 5 of the Premier League the price would be excellent to most of these people, but they would still have the same income, and outgoings as they do now, it's just that the product is better value for money.

Reduce ticket prices now!!!

Ok spacedak79, what do YOU feel is a fair price ? [:o)]

You probably want to get in for 8 quid or something. If not is a reduction of a fiver really that big a deal ? Try spending a bit less on poxy take-aways, try smoking less(if you do), try betting less(if you do) try drinking less(if you do). Instead of moaning like a little girl about ticket prices. It's all bullsh1t imo, you would happily cough up if we were in the PL. Poor old Gibbo, he's damned if he does, damned if he don't.

Thank god most the sensible fans know the reality of the situation. The ticket prices are fair, there neither too pricey or too cheap. And Gibbo is entitled to charge what he does when he is putting in so much a month so we actually have a club.

I'm so sick of moaning gets banging on and on about ticket prices. [V]

offside-again Posted on 31/03/2012 22:25
Reduce ticket prices now!!!

Yeah but for me it is a case of just wanting to go because they are my team. It's a commitment I made ages ago. just p1sses me ff how so many don't go, I go to demonstrate that I love my team and that I want to show solidarity with the team. Value for money does not even get on the radar as far as I'm concerned. And I pay 32 quid where I sit !

Plus it's not as if I have a well piad job, it's not the worst pay going but hardly on a ofrtune. I guess I have a nice 2nd income from my cricket trading but still, I do feel that so many of the moaners are just moaners with no real point other than expecting ridiculous price reductions.

Anyway that's just how I feel, but I have never been angry with the club over anything in truth, disappointed by team performances at times sure, but never anger at ticket prices or the way the club is ran on the whole.

Joe_Laidlaw Posted on 31/03/2012 22:33
Reduce ticket prices now!!!

There are too many on here who only take their own personal circumstances and commitments into consideration and need to look at the bigger picture.

There are many lads on this board whose life styles have changed dramatically through the mess the money men have got us into and just cannot afford to go to a game week in week out.

People are paying more for groceries, petrol, council tax, clothes, beer, etc and their wages are not going up at the same rate. Going to a football match is an expense too far some.

Crowds are dropping right round the country and something needs to be done about it if they want the average punter to attend games. If it is a choice of putting bread on the table then you will always choose the family over the Boro.

No one is right or wrong, just donít judge people who say that prices need reducing for them attend because you do not know their circumstances.

You might be comfortable and be able to afford it but many others canít.

In terms of inflation:

If you work out how much the price of a ticket to stand in the Holgate was in 1986, then in todays money, you shouldn't be paying any more than about £12 to sit in the North Stand.

Now obviously you're sitting instead of standing, the stadium is safer etc and you're watching old Div 2 football instead of Div 3 but nevertheless, it is still very expensive, especially for those paying on a match by match basis.

£27 is more than double what you would have reasonably expected to have paid.

You could have said any championship club.

I've given you links that show there are no ways of paying that amount of money for those tickets for you and your lad.

You should be glad you don't have a daughter who costs much money as your young lad as I can assure you that they're a nightmare.

I'm looking at it. Is this your son or daughter you're sat with??

billybob Posted on 01/04/2012 00:30
Reduce ticket prices now!!!

If you are a wealthy man then no, you can easily afford it.

If you're on a tight budget and will have to sacrifice elsewhere to afford it then yes, it is too much.

Teesside has too many of the latter to be charging those prices and still have the cheek to call itself a community club.

I'm off to bed, have work in the morning. Night all.

Reduce ticket prices now!!!

Why would it matter? You seem to be missing the point.
If I was a hull fan I could take my son and it would cost me £25 for both of us?
What are you not getting?[sad]

Reduce ticket prices now!!!

I've just got the calculator out.

A ST is £370/ 23 home games is £16 a game (once a fortnight).

How is this too expensive? £8/week?

Any lower and it will seriously impact on the clubs chances to attract better players.

"House prices, recession shall I continue"

That's the best one yet. "The value of my house has declined so i don't go to the match anymore"

Well then you cant go to the game then.

Spacedak79 Posted on 01/04/2012 16:48
Reduce ticket prices now!!!

No I couldn't get to most games so a season ticket is not an option.
Here is a site of walk up ticket prices.
We are over the top in our pricing this is a hard fact!
http://www.footballgroundguide.com/
Then look at admission prices , junior discounts, concessions , and overall economy of the other cities and towns.
No arguement!! Boro do not have the worst fans in the country ,just cos we won't pull our pants down like you do!!!![:o)]

Reduce ticket prices now!!!

I can't get to every game but that does not stop me getting a ST

I work on it being £1/day which is like me buying a newspaper

That's how I look at it, not thinking how dear it is, but how cheap it is!

redwurzel Posted on 01/04/2012 18:36
Reduce ticket prices now!!!

my season ticket doesn't get used a lot.

Nowadays its used to give the club some money.

As said its £1 a day to the club.

I am lucky I have a reasonably paid job (al beit) at the opposite end of the country and don't have a group of tickets to buy.
