You'll be quite near London Bridge so go up towards Borough Market; loads of good places around there.

You might need to narrow it down for them a bit, i was there a few weeks ago working in clapham and peckham, was staying about 10 miles away so cant really comment other than clapham seemed "nicer" than peckham

Loads of pubs around London Bridge, very close to Southwark. My favourite is the Southwark Tavern at Borough Market. Loads of decent beers/lagers/ales. They do nice grub too [^]

www.thesouthwarktavern.co.uk

Right opposite is one of the best tapas restaurants in London; Brindisa (link)

There are other places and pubs for food but this stands out.

What Square Wheel Bike and Emmerson said.

The Wheatsheaf even serves a very nice ale by the name of 'Redcar'.

Southwark Tavern good but service hit and miss.

Brindisa Tapas superb - I can see many happy diners as i look out of my office window!

Dont go to London bridge/Borough Market, its so 2011.

Head to Bermondsey Street and hang out wiht the cool cats (and the finer clat). Brindisa as someoen emntioned is now the far poorer cousin to Jose Pizzaro on Bermondsey Street which is the same cheff who set up on his own, however Jose on the corner of Bermondsey and Morrocco (thats how we do it NY style) is a little gem he opened up, propper tapas bar, clungfest. Then go to Village east for dressed up birds or the Woolpack for all else.

My personal preference for eating is Zucca, probably London's best Italian, also on Bermondsey Street.

'Dont go to London bridge/Borough Market, its so 2011'

So 2001 you mean. Started going downhill as soon as the North of the river types 'discovered' it.

The Mug House, underneath London Bridge southside, is worth a look when it's too crowded everywhere else.

Ha, Spent a lot of time in that neck of the woods actually in a previous Job. We ran some courses from that huge building that used to be civil service in the 70's I think.

Go to my mate's new pub - the thirsty bear!

It has self serve pumps on the table so you can serve your own beer (no queuing at the bar etc) and you can order food (they do awesome steak) from the ipad embedded into the table.

It's just a short walk from Waterloo and Southwark tubes

I thought they were all out and it was full of private companies involved with training and the like.

I worked for a large youth charity and we had some Business Courses being run there.

Is the estate close by THE estate where they do/did lots of filming? It's been a while since I was last in the area so the estate may have been developed by now
