RIP Smiley Culture

I remember seeing this on TOTP as a teenager and thinking WTF?

Seeing this led me to get into the band "Musical Youth" which fostered my lifelong love of reggae and Ska.

The title of this track is now somewhat ironic seeing that he died in a police drugs raid this week.

Link: Police Officer

Was there some connection with Musical Youth, I dunno?

I did check out Police Officer on YouTube last night and my immediate thoughts thought we're '... poor mans Musical Youth..' which is pretty damming I must say.

"Racism now Bernie?"
WHAT?

The guy released a song called police officer, and died in a police raid. Where is the race element to that?

No connection to musical youth that i know of, other than being around at the same time. M.Y. took/take a lot of stick but i think their debut album is still a good listen today. Goos stuff on Youtube.

RIP, was watching him on Reggae Britannia the other week. I think Cockney Translator was a pretty clever song.

Is it just me, or is anyone else left uncomfortable by Bernies announcement of his love of ethnic music?
