With his broken teeth and his ugly face,

And wears his trousers back to front
And he farts up cocks and he's riddled with pox,

Newyddion, anti-Bell posts on here appear with monotonous regularity but nothing constructive ever happens.
It might make you feel a bit better let off steam, fair enough, but the only way to get rid of the useless, arrogant tw*t is to join the party and help vote him out.
Like the majority of MPs of every party, Bell is kept in power by a tiny handful of supporters. I think it's true to say that most Labourites hate his guts as much as you do. I reckon a couple of dozen (if that)of committed people getting themselves on to the committee which reselects their MP could remove him.

'anti-Bell posts on here appear with monotonous regularity but nothing constructive ever happens'

It's because the knuckle draggers have very little constructive to offer in opposition.

They won't join the Labour Party and make it reflect their views, which is rather fortunate to be honest. They have absoultely nothing in common with the Conservative Party, that's rather obvious. The Lib Dems were their pre-election prayer and we can all see where they stand.

The people are without a voice because they've allowed themselves to be manipulated over the last 30 years by Murdoch and his mates, and it's been so easy for him to do it.

They can read, but they can't think or move.

The people of Middlesbrough can't get off their arses, they're the same as the rest of the country.

The governments (local and national) of the last 30 years have taken the pi$$, and the furthest people go to puttin git right is by writing on a mesage board, those without that ability cut and paste.

They'll wake up when the real hardship kicks in, or maybe not. You get the feeling from these threads that some actually fancy a dose of real hardship, and don't mind it being inflicted on those that don't want or deserve it.

Yes, unfortunately local power, taken for granted, has been systemtaically removed since the late 70's. From both local government and the major local party.

At least we got Blair and Brown out of the deal, and another waste of space to follow in four years time [^]

I dout it. We must be the most un-politicised country in the world. The ruling class have rammed it down our throats for centuaries that we can't make a difference and told us to look after 'you and yours'.

The amount of people i know who have zero interest in politics and are completely ignorant to it is amazing. A friend of mine, 34 years old, has a good job, nice house ect, told me last year that he wasn't going to bother voting as if you don't vote your vote automatically goes to the government! WTF![:O]

"They'll wake up when the real hardship kicks in"

It worked last time. We voted in Attlee and he let Bevan go to work on the Welfare State. We actually took strides towards being a civilised nation, and the following governments, both Tory and Labour, followed with aims of full employment, trades unions were involved as well as the CBI.

The strides the world took in the decades that followed were amazing. The rich realised that their power base was being eroded and did something about it. Out went the Tories that actually cared a little, in came Neo Liberalism. Out went the Labour politicians that cared, in came the Young Conservatives.

We've got to be looking to say goodbye again to the lot of the XXXXXXs. Development stopped 30 years ago desite massive strides in economic growth.

The slums of Teesside, like elsewhere, are once again expanding.

This house was designated as her second home and was paid for by us.

Bought for £113k sold for £315k , second home claims made by canny Vera £100k +.

She ducked the corus issue until shamed but kicked up a real fuss when her dog shat on a station platform and a bigger fuss trying to dodge a speeding charge in Wales.

She also championed a change in the law that would allow unlicensed debt collectors to kick in doors for civil debt , until she was pressured into appointing an independent regulator " some time in the future".

Vera was a vile harridan who will not be missed on Teesside.

Vera Baird after losing her seat "I love Redcar, I love the Redcar people, I plan to stay".

Two weeks after the elction, in the papers speeding in excess of 100mph, could not get out of the area quick enough.

Scandal in the Times 2 months after losing the campaign sells her house at a tidy profit paid with tax payers money.

Her role as Solicitor General/mp, saw her campaigning for rapist not to be killed on death row, not spending time on local issues.
Coc the Cat, get the feeling your not a local resident.

Local MPS for locasl seats, not some brown nosing toff, in it for the bungs.

Ray Mallon would clean up if he stood for an independant as Middlesbrough MP, would get Bell out.

Stockton is not on the rise, but has track record so far for Wharton, Leven Bank bridge closed for months, complained to him, open ahead of schedule, Preston Park wanting to be Ingleby Barwick Comprehensive quashed, Yarm High Street car parking, sent 5000 leaflets out to local residents, stands on Yarm High Street talking to locals etc. He will get my vote next time

Ray Mallomn if he stood as a MP in Bells seat would make the Swing in Redcar look like nothing.

Great media presence and would put the town on the map.

Vera Baird time waster, not surprised her chambers dumped her, if she spent more time on local issues rather then flying to the states to get guilty "British Death Row" rapists off then the swing on election night have only been 18%

Dari Taylor was a great MP. She was based just around the corner from (in Thornaby) me and was always there in her office having meetings with her constituents and was always visual. She regulary visited my sons school to ask parents about local issues and from a personal point of view she's help people i know with a range of problems. As for Wharton i'm yet to have any corrospondence, have never seen him out and about(even before the election) and as far as i'm aware he lives in Darlington. Wharton wants an explanation on why Stockton-on-Tees Council turned down a multi million pound investment at Springs at Teesside, the only use for that place since it shut has been a travellers site.

Leaflets delivered to 5000 houses in Yarm, informing of the parking charges will ruin Yarm like Stockton did.

Take my hat off to the folk of Redcar, kicking out Vera, making democracy work..all of this you let the tory party in blah blah blah, good on em. Labour done nothing to help Corus, in the Netherlands the Government kept going through tough times.

Redcar,, sick of having no bath, a decent leisure centre, got a local man with a Redcar Pulse.

I think the youth of Wharton, is a great thing he stands up for local issues, a bit like the late Ashok Kumar.

Stuart Bell, your not fit to lace Ashoks or Whartons boots

Coc the Cat, what are your views on the Ex-Labout MP for Redcar, Vera Baird helping a British Citizen on Death Row in Texas to avoid the Death Penalty for Rape and Murder, when Corus was pulling out of Teesside?

Solicitor General Baird, wanting to help bailiffs and car clampers x

Jimmy no brains, she was awful. Typical of the shower that represent the modern Labour Party.

By the way, Wharton's voting in parliament will indicate how he supports the area, not a few issues that he may not have had any say in.

Ray Mallon would not stand an independant MP for Middlesbrough, why not he stood as an independant for mayor and won.

Just think he would be really good for the area, in Parliament. Also, if he joined a major party he would be PM in 10 years, and a good one.

Coc the Cat, cant work your political bias, are you a Republican?

He's as left as they come when it comes to opinions

But in practise he's living out of the country to avoid paying tax on the money he earns in the oil industry

He's a Champagne Socialist basically

"Leven Bank bridge closed for months, complained to him, open ahead of schedule"

Who complained to him? What a vague thing to point out as to why he's doing a good job. I would hazard a guess that 100's of people complained to various different people.

"Preston Park wanting to be Ingleby Barwick Comprehensive quashed"

Another half truth. Part of Preston Park, the part currently massively underused. But never let the truth get in the way eh?

"stands on Yarm High Street talking to locals etc"

Exactly. Never comes to Thornaby where the real problems are. Stands about on Yarm high street talking to his old school pals and chuffing 'scoans' and sipping tea! I bet the rich old dears give him a right hard time.[rle]

So basically, he's actually achieved nothing. Now what's he voted on and how will that affect his constituents?

Stuart Bell is a Geordie, look what you residents of Gresham have voted in.

Coraign the cat, cage has been rattled, has somebody wound you up fella? Too long in the Texan sun, avoiding tax?

Wikipedia profile[V][V]
He was elected to the City Council in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1980. In 1982, the veteran Labour MP for Middlesbrough, Arthur Bottomley announced that he would step down at the next general election, and Bell subsequently won the selection process to fight the seat at the 1983 general election. Bell held Middlesbrough comfortably and was elected with a majority just short of 10,000 votes.

In Parliament Bell became the Parliamentary Private Secretary in 1983 to the Deputy Leader of the Opposition Roy Hattersley. He was promoted to the frontbench in 1984 by Neil Kinnock as a spokesman on Northern Ireland. However, he chose to resign his post after the outbreak of the Cleveland child abuse scandal which occupied two years of his life, fighting social services in the battle for Cleveland's children 1987 general election.

After the 1992 general election and the election of John Smith as the Leader of the Labour Party, Bell returned to the frontbench as a spokesman on Trade and Industry. In the Commons vote on the abolition of the County of Cleveland, Bell did not vote, Bell's unwillingness to support his fellow Cleveland Labour MPs, Mo Mowlam and Frank Cook, and Cleveland County Council assisting the Conservative government in their plans for abolition. After the election of the Labour Government at the 1997 general election he was appointed on the advice of Tony Blair as the Second Church Estates Commissioner, the spokesman for the Church of England in the House of Commons, a position he has held from 1997 to 2010.

He is currently the Chairman of the Finance and Services Committee, which manages the annual budget of the House of Commons and its many employees. Relatedly, he is a member of the House of Commons Commission, which oversees the administration of the House, and the Members Estimate Committee, which sets MPs' pay and pensions. He is a founder member of the British-Irish Inter-Parliamentary Body and also participates in a number of other parliamentary groups and is Chairman of the Franco-British Parliamentary Relations Committee in the Commons.

Sir Stuart sits on the Members Estimates Committee at Parliament and has been heavily involved representing MPs' interests in the MPs' expenses scandal of 2009.

What problems would you like him to come to Thornaby and fix then the boy, bearing in mind he has recently visited the town anyway.

Thornaby has had abit of a boom the past few years. New town centre, new library, new doctors, new housing, dont really see what urgent matter our new MP should rush to Thornaby to attend to

I have met both John Walsh & James Wharton

Mr Walsh has nothing to offer the people of Middlesbrough Mr Wharton seemed to have a lot more about him, however if he thinks that the
"Thornaby Boom" has alleviated the problems that the ward faces he is very much mistaken.

For all those who believe the Leven Bank bridge was opened ahead of schedule. Head straight to the Officers Club, as there is a 70% closing down sale.

Yes because democracy works by someone on a football message board calling for an mp to be thrown out

Pity you weren't as vocal in April/May when I and many others were actively advocating his being voted out

He is entitled to be MP until 2015 because - unfortunately - Middlesbrough's people elected him

How about the droves of unemployed filling the job center soon to be expanded by public sector cuts?

The complete lack of social housing which means that private landlords can charge £500 a month for a two bed street house?

The fact that Thronaby Community School is one of the worst performing in the country?

Just a few to get him started there.

Councils need to get their act in order and not pay landlords £500 per month for a two bed house.

The landlord will soon reduce the rent to a sensible price if the jouse is empty.

'would we have another election or would his successor just be decided by the Labour party?'

Either way you'd get the same result, unless there was decent oppositon. Imagine how poor the opposition must be for Bell to have been elected for this long. Is there not a single Labour, Tory or Lib Dem personality in Boro with the capabilities of showing this man for what he is?

Labour ousted Cook in Stockton North, Cunningham was elected. Now that Taylor's gone there'll be a new Labour member for Stockton South in a few years time. Redcar will have a new Labour MP, as will the Boro.

Who will the new members of parliament be, and more interestingly, how many ten bob Tories on here will be sharpening their pencils as soon as they're elected?

Now give me a run down of Wharton's achievements again, I got the feeling he was acting the eye catching role without doing anything to benefit the majority of the people of his constituency. That would that upset his sponsors, John Hall etc.

Shame the Gazette decided to take print a load of rubbish about Ray Mallon.

When they could have went for "Middlesbrough's Unwanted MP"

Issues that genuinely concern the people of Teesside and reporting on them in an informative and honest manner is obviously a little too much to ask for from the local rag.
