Administraton Rumour yet again

The bloke who does the MFC profile on Facebook has his status as:

"Latest roumor we are going into administration, put your joke book away."

Now i for one don't believe that, but there are 25,000 people following that profile so this kind of thing is going to get spread around and will be very damaging for the club.

There are also people saying that this was the basis for Brown's comments, and that because Boro refused to make an official comment on what Brown said, it shows there is truth in it.

There are also tales of a bunch of non playing staff getting laid off last Friday, and that none of the Wheater money will be spent.

I think the club needs to come out and make a statement to stop all the gossip once & for all.

peterkay Posted on 24/01/2011 06:47

I have always though the wheater money will stay in the club, hard times so we neeed to do what is right to stay in business. The days of big signings are over.

Not saying it is true or false, but I will say that I deleted all of the MFC facebook pages I had added, because generally they are administrated by illiterate phuckwit schoolkids.

If Gibbo comes out and says we are doomed then I will take notice, until then I'm more worried about catching fish in the morning after I drop the kids at school.

Don't think these are true. Mowbray would never have taken over if we were close to administration, why havn't the press ran any storys about administation? Remember Gibson is a businessman and they plan long term, hense the selling of best earners and getting some money in, he knows we won't go up this season now.

Ffs its not true.

Why refuse Swansea Citys extended Emnes loan?

Why knock back Taylors exit?

Administration isn't going to happen.

That would mean that Bulkhaul, Rockliffe etc etc would have to go into admin as well which will not happen. If you look at the accounts, MFC adds the least amount of income to the group but is the biggest drain, The wage bill of MFC was some 40m in 2008/09 so even if they halved this now its still 20+

jgreggs Posted on 24/01/2011 08:10
Administraton Rumour yet again

The fact that we have been very prudent in the transfer window so far (NOT EVEN A LOAN COMING IN) suggests that Gibson is doing is utmost to avoid admin and the points deduction.

...That would mean that Bulkhaul, Rockliffe etc etc would have to go into admin as well which will not happen....

That's not the case at all. If Steve Gibson stops propping up MFC then it could go into administration (or receivership) without affecting the other companies.

It's not going to happen though.

The Lancashire Evening Post has now issued an apology.

MFC may not has commented publicly but it appears that Gibson/Lamb have been having strong words behind the scene [^]

The parachute payments end this season so it is certain come the summer there will be some big changes to the personnel. The wheater money will keep the club going until then.

"The parachute payments end this season"

No they don't, there's another two years at £8m to come.

Midosparmo Posted on 24/01/2011 09:44
Administraton Rumour yet again

£8 million in plus low gate reciepts next year.

Mogga said wage costs when he came in was £30 million. Then theres all the other costs of the stadium etc on top.

I suspect we will need to reduce the wage bill to around £10 mill to break even.

If we dont then its a big problem if Gibbo wont pump more millions in.

I love these threads.

Always end up with someone who got a D in GCSE maths suddenly being able to work out the accounts of a multi-million pound turnover organisation.

viv_andersons_nana Posted on 24/01/2011 09:47
Administraton Rumour yet again

There is still a lot of money to shift from the wage-bill. It's almost like people on here are hoping administration is around the corner just so they have something to talk about.

fatharrywhite Posted on 24/01/2011 09:48
Administraton Rumour yet again

when has Mogga ever said what the wage bill is - to my recollection never. The only thing i can remember him saying is that when he talks to other managers it is clear that ours is way above anything in the championship.

edit - the only reference to £30 million is the daily mirror speculating that it's that amount

I though you only got parachute payments for 2 seasons I know the rules changed just recently to 4 but this does not include us.

"and that because Boro refused to make an official comment on what Brown said, it shows there is truth in it."

No it doesn't.

Buddy - I don't think we've been extended as such, I'm sure we only have the parachute payments as initially allowed?

The parachute payments essentially paid for the contracts of the Premier League players we still had left, Mido for example. Now that he's gone losing the parachute payments doesn't make as big a hole as it should, this was from Gibson's mouth at the start of the season at a do I was at.

Midosparmo Posted on 24/01/2011 10:04
Administraton Rumour yet again

The year to 31/12/09 we had £41 mill income and 31 mill wages losing 12 mill for the year per the acounts at Company house.

Since then we have lost some players but added the likes of Boyd on big bucks.

It doesnt even take a D in GCSEs maths to work out that when we lose another 8 Million+ turnover next year we are screwed without big savings or money pumped in.

The club itself even said it needs promotion this season.

We will be seriously skint next season.

skiprat Posted on 24/01/2011 10:11
Administraton Rumour yet again

These contracts expire in the Summer (would have in Wheater's case).

Arca, Taylor, Mido and Wheater would have all been on Premier League wages. So the ending of these contracts is negated by the loss in parachute payments.

Julio Arca
Andrew Taylor
Seb Hines
Richard Smallwood
David Wheater
Willo Flood
Mido
Mickael Tavares (loan)

Although I'm not arguing that losing 8 million is fine, it's not but we don't have a choice.

Midosparmo Posted on 24/01/2011 10:15
Administraton Rumour yet again

That still leaves Hoyte, O'Neil and Bates on premier league contracts.

Around the 4 million mark on 3 players which doesnt leave a lot of scope for the rest of the wage bill.

sasboro1 Posted on 24/01/2011 10:17
Administraton Rumour yet again

when gibson was on bbc tees after we sackes strachan he said we still had a wage bill up there with some in the premier league. you can see how skint we are when you look at our defence on saturday. still a few to be sold yet.

"Boyd isn't on big bucks... "

ofcourse he is, he ran his contract down at rangers for a reason. he turned down 18k a week at rangers so you can expect him to be on a lot more than that here. mcmanus, mcdonald, thomson and robson will all be on good money too.

fatharrywhite Posted on 24/01/2011 10:18
Administraton Rumour yet again

Bates new deal was signed when we were in the championship - i doubt very much he is on 25k a week now and i doubt that Hoyte is either

Midosparmo Posted on 24/01/2011 10:27
Administraton Rumour yet again

I'd bet Bates (who signed his contract when we thought we would go up and had offers form other clubs) and Hoyte (who came up north from Arsenal on a 3 million transfer) are on much bigger bucks then your average champs player.

sasboro1 Posted on 24/01/2011 10:34
Administraton Rumour yet again

hoyte will be on decent money.

people forget that reserves in the premier league earn quite a bit probably more than 10k a week. players like hoyte will have been on good money at arsenal and no doubt got a nice pay rise to become a first teamer at boro when we were in the premier league. he will be on the same contract now.

Midosparmo Posted on 24/01/2011 10:39
Administraton Rumour yet again

In 09 41 mill income, 31 mill wages, 22 mill other costs.

In 2011/12 we will be lucky to get 20 mill income so that wont leave much for wages and other costs if we want to break even.

Midosparmo Posted on 24/01/2011 10:40

You get a better chance of working out the finances by starting with the actual accounts rather then just assuming everything is rosey [^]

Boromart Posted on 24/01/2011 10:48

out since end 09 :
Brad Jones, Riggott, Poga, Yeates, Aliadiere,
St Ledger, Folan, Huth, Tuncay, AJ, Bent,
Josh Walker, Kitson, Osbourne, Wheater

In:
McManus, McDonald, Thomson, Boyd, Bailey, Kink, Flood, Miller, Robson, Halliday, Steele, Tavares

Guestimate = we have reduced wages by 2-4m. If we can get Boyd, Arca and GaryO out and Taylor's contract reduced by half then we can reduce another 5mill or so and get back to sustainable wage.

skiprat Posted on 24/01/2011 11:29
Administraton Rumour yet again

It's utterly pointless debating players wages. None of us know how much any player is on.

sasboro1 Posted on 24/01/2011 11:32
Administraton Rumour yet again

whats happening with andrew davies. can we afford him? he will be on a fair bit at stoke even if he is a reserve. probably more than we can afford

Boromart Posted on 24/01/2011 11:35
Administraton Rumour yet again

Davies is lined up for a second ressie run out. Mogga will make a decision at that point.

I think he only has 6 months left on his contract, and Stoke want to get shot of him. I would expect a loan until end of season with us paying 50% wages. If we decide to sign him.

RenzoRosso Posted on 24/01/2011 11:45
Administraton Rumour yet again

the was a big old to do not long ago about parachute payments on here, cant remember who it was who dissagreed with me but to be clear:

We get 8 mil next season and the season after. End Of.

Midosparmo Posted on 24/01/2011 11:50
Administraton Rumour yet again

The trouble is £8 mill next season is £8 mill less then this season £16 mill.

It doesnt take many players on £1 mill a year to make a big hole in £8 mill.

We only made £10 mill on income after tv money in 09. That will be a lot less in 11/12 as well.

Anyone with d plus GCSE maths can see a problem coming up.

skiprat Posted on 24/01/2011 11:53
Administraton Rumour yet again

Just having a look for that Renzo, you are correct.

"This will be higher in the current campaign, when they will receive a payment of £16m.

Under new extended parachute payment schedules introduced from this season, if they donít get promoted, Boroís parachute payments will drop dramatically.

In fact they will receive only an £8m parachute payment in 2011-12, and the same in 2012-13."

So we've banked £16 million this season and have 8 million for the next two.

fatharrywhite Posted on 24/01/2011 11:56
Administraton Rumour yet again

re the parachute payments, i'm not sure if that applies to us in that we were already getting parachute payments so that we will be eligible for them or whether it is just for newly relegated sides after that deal. if it's the latter then we get £2.3 million along with all the other championship sides
