Ha Ha ... I wouldn't go that far ... I had been there over 4 years at the time ...

I was on the verge of handing my notice in ... I'd had enough of it ... Had enough of flying, enough of driving to Newcastle every week, enough of being away from home from 6am on a Monday morning until 7pm on a Friday evening and i don't want to relocate down there ...

My boss got wind of it, I had a meeting with him, he told me that they didn't want to lose me, after I built T5 on my own and asked me to stick it out a month or two ... that's when this opportunity within the business came up ... And hence I jumped at the chance as it's only an hour and a half away from home ...

Trouble is, it's nearly finished now - maybe a month, two maximum left [cr] ...

PinkPonce Posted on 12/10/2010 15:02
FAO pink PONCE

The clue is in your question ...

My 'home' is on Teesside ... I don't want to live in London ... If I can get a job in the North East that pays me as much as I earn in London then I wouldn't even think twice about returning ... If I have to return for a few months until I can possibly find something which I'm excited by back home then so be it ...

I enjoyed it for 4 years, but there's only so many flight cancellations and 50 hour weeks you can do before it gets a little monotonous ...

TurnbullsCans Posted on 12/10/2010 15:07

Be yourself [^]

PinkPonce Posted on 12/10/2010 15:11
FAO pink PONCE

It wasn't about adapting ... I didn't change anything about myself when I went down there ...

I got my head down and worked really hard for 4 years ... There just came a point where I'd had enough of that ...

It got to the stage where the smallest things were really annoying me - such as realising at 10pm on a Sunday night that I hadn't booked my airport parking etc ...

I've been here now for 7 months ... My stock has risen, and I think I could be ready for another big challenge ...

We'll see what happens ...

PinkPonce Posted on 12/10/2010 15:25
FAO pink PONCE

'What was so important that you had to fly home every weekend'

My friends and my family live on Teesside and I don't necessarily want to socialise with people purely based on geographical reasons, whom you probably wouldn't think about socialising with otherwise ...

It was and is a job ... the people I lived with did the same as me and commuted it ...

Because it was a job, and not my real life, coming home for the weekend made me feel like I was away from work ... Staying there made me feel like I was still at work - If that makes sense ...

TC ... I'm currently in Nottinghamshire (about 100 miles away from Daventry LoL) ...

PP ... x

Lisbonlegend Posted on 12/10/2010 15:29
FAO pink PONCE

I also have friends and family back home and strangely, some of my friends actually come and visit me occasionally. Yours obviously aren't that bothered.

Also, is there a period in your life when you have to stop making friends and you have to stick with the ones you have. Very strange attitude that.

So you just followed what everyone else did then, that makes more sense.

PinkPonce Posted on 12/10/2010 15:35
FAO pink PONCE

Of course they come and visit you Clarky because you live there ...

I never did live there ... I had to book my flights some 8-12 weeks in advance ...

I think you're missing the point - I didn't want to stay there for a weekend ... I wanted to get away from there so I felt like I had actually had a weekend ...

Even the times I stayed down Friday nights and went out, I often got the first flight back home on the Saturday ...

As ridiculous as it sounds, I just wanted to sit on my own sofa and watch the football ...

I'm pretty sure that if you're company said to you that they'd fund your flights home every week, and gave you flexibility on a Monday and Friday with start and finish times, that you'd do exactly the same ...

It's completely different for you though, because you live there, you have a large circle of friends there, your girlfriend at the time lived there, so everything you wanted was in London ... The odd time you came home was a break from your normal life ... When I came home, it was my break from work ...

I went to work there, I made friends at work who I'd happily share a few drinks with midweek, but a lot of people did what I did ...

I get home every other week or so but I'm not tied to it, I do what suits me. You did what your mates did and then couldn't understand why you were sick of it.

I had no friends in London when I got here so had to create a life for myself. I still don't consider this my home and don't have plans to be here in 20 years time but I enjoy the life down here for what it is.

I don't socialise with my workmates.

You work anywhere in the country, yet you still return to your home in Ealing (Regardless of whether you consider it your home or not) ... Your home is where your post gets delivered too ... and mine is TS7 ...

With regards to the comment about sitting on my own sofa, in my own house ... That was trying to highlight exactly what being at home meant to me ...

I could have sold my place back home and pocketed the mortgage payments that I've paid for the last 5 years, and moved down to London with an extra £1,000 a month in my pocket if I'd wanted to ...

I made friends down there but I honestly think you're missing the point ...

I'll try and make it a little easier for you ...

If someone told you you had a meeting at Ferrybridge Power Station on Friday morning and you could either stay in the site cabin all weekend until another meeting commenced first thing on Monday OR they'd pay to fly you back to the Stage Door to watch the Leeds game on the tele - which one would you choose ... ?

This board just gets weirder! Who cares what Ponce does with his weekends?
Well, Lisbon does, obviously - I just don't get where all this bitter crap is coming from about who lives a sad life etc.
Bitter, jealous, twisted bunch of f0ckers!

Well Done[^]

Just a shame it's become another thread for the Petty Posters to show how childish they are.

why not all meet up for a pint before the leeds game and have an arm wrestling competition to sort it all out once and for all?

[:D] Algarve that's a lot of anger. You should see someone about that. The last thing sucky sucky town needs is a Raoul Moate on their hands [:X]

Because SAS, it would be an unfair advantage to Lisbon, Algarve would be on his own and Lisbon would be surrounded by his board buddies backing him up.

I've met Nuge and can confirm he is a top lad.
Doesn't come across bad on here either.

Wouldn't want to meet his pals though. Judging by their behaviour on this board, they might start pulling themselves off in front of me.

What goes on in the MSS dressing room, stays in the MSS dressing room. [:D]

When did I meet you mate? Have difficulty putting faces to usernames at the best of times!

Nuge ... Disappointed to hear from Lisbon that if I join MSS I'll only get a membership card ... I was expecting at least a T-Shirt and some car stickers ... ?

Car-stickers and T-Shirts would be far too extrovert and wouldn't align with my master-plan to turn MSS into a secret society with special hand-shakes and the like.

flash your membership card at a greggs and you get an extra pastie chucked in with no questions asked

Blimey. Such an honour to get a name check off the creosote drinking old booby.

Although I must step out of character for once and be a trifle pedantic - 'reasonably rich and successful' should actually read 'considerabloy richah than yow', which is I believe the accepted terminology.
