Obama, Cameron and BP - 'you Brits are going to pay'.

Is he attacking Cameron?

Our government has been silent on this issue for a long time until recently, maybe that's what is at the bottom of his comments.

Is he saying that if BP don't cough up for whatever reason then he's expecting the British taxpayer to foot the bill?

Was'nt the works regarding some critical concreting etc subbed out to Haliburton....and they cut corners sub-sub contracting the work out to maximise profit for what has turned out to be a sub-standard job?

Haliburton have more fˇˇking Senetors/ Congressmen etc on their payroll than Obama could challenge, so the easy target is B.P.

it was mentioned on radio 5 that one of the main failings of the BP's CEO over this crisis was that he has not put forward an american from bp ameco up for comment and has brought about a US perspective of a British run company

"In 1998, Amoco and BP announced that they had merged, combining their worldwide operations into a single organization. Overnight, the new company, BP Amoco, became the largest producer of both oil and natural gas in the US. "

It is a British company though isn't it?

And by that I mean historically, culturally and in terms of its perception.

I think of it as a British company, although in saying that I have very little interest in the oil industry generally other than the price of diesel at the pumps.

And at the end of the day you can't disagree with the argument that a large rich company should have to pay for its mistakes.

I'll be disappointed in Cameron if there is any taxpayer support for BP though.
