THE MOST DISGUSTING THING I HAVE EVER READ!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why are they doing this? Is this not the ultimate slap in the face to those who were murdered that day? It's a complete XXXXXX-take, no more, no less.
And if you oppose it, you are a bigot apparently.

I hope that when this disgusting mosque is completed, somebody flies an aeroplane straight into it.

XXXXXX ISLAM! Take your religion of hatred back to where it belongs because it should not be welcomed in our society. And if that makes me a bigot, so be it.

And finally...

Why did Mohammed marry a five year old?

Because he was a paedophile!!

The major point to remember here, is the plain and simple fact that not every Muslim is a murdering terrorist getting ready to blow the world up ! In fact, the vast majority of Muslims are peaceful people who just happen to follow a certain religion that is linked with some bad XXXXXXs.

There's a lot of resentment to this 15 story super Mosque being built two blocks away from ground zero, but the local communities have given their approval. And, I don't think that approval would have been given if the local people weren't completely happy with the build.

So then, at what point in the future will Britain become an Islamic State?

7_The_Informer Posted on 26/05/2010 19:17
Been away - has anything been happening?

From my own point of view, as someone who lives in New York, I think the plan for the Mosque is incredibly crass and insensitive. Personally, mainly through the cricket teams I have played for, I know and have known many muslims and not a single one of them has any extremist views whatsoever (which I couldn't say about some so-called Christians or atheists I know).

However, that is not the case for the majority of the population, a lot of whom have never known a Muslim personally. A lot of people here in NY were extremely scarred psychologically by the 9/11 attacks and I don't see any good motivation for building the Mosque there. Sure, there are areas which are run-down nearby which would be renovated, but so close to the site of the twin towers? What is the motivation for that?

Yes, I say, you should build your Mosque and your cultural centre would be far more important than the Mosque if it educates people and brings communities closer together, but just do it somewhere else. Take it to Midtown, LES, Hell's Kitchen, just somewhere not so close to where the WTC once stood.

borolad259 Posted on 26/05/2010 19:53
Been away - has anything been happening?

That's nice of you Informer. I suppose Muslims are ok to travel around the world, as long as it's not on planes....as, you know, some people are mentally scarred by the acts of a few Muslims in planes.
Perhaps Muslim's ought to be a bit more considerate, and not wear rucksacks on trains....especially underground ones.
I'm sure that all sensitive, caring Muslims the world over will moderate their behaviour so as not to remind anyone of the appalling outrages committed by a few sick individuals.

borobuddah Posted on 26/05/2010 19:55
Been away - has anything been happening?

I suppose its about a feeling that the Islamic faith as a whole was responsible for the atrocity, which clearly isn't true.

Same as Catholicism wasn't responsible for the IRA campaign against the English/British.

Its about political struggles, and groups using religion.

A few sick individuals?

13% of British Muslims think that the four men who carried out the London Tube and bus bombings of July 7, 2005, should be regarded as “martyrs”

7% agree that suicide attacks on civilians in the UK can be justified in some circumstances, rising to 16 per cent for a military target

16% of British Muslims say that while the attacks may have been wrong, the cause was right

2% would be proud if a family member decided to join al-Qaeda. Sixteen per cent would be “indifferent”

Rids...you quote stats without a source. They mean F all.
The few sick individuals were the ones involved in 9/11 and the London bombings.
Even your spurious figures would indicate that the vast majority of UK Muslims would have no truck with the perpetrators. Ridsdale, not sure what your point is, but the gist of what I was saying might translate into - not all Germans were responsible for Nazi atrocities -

Members of AQ or the IRA would be signed up to horrendous acts to achieve their goals, but not their broader faith group members as a whole. There are lots of different factions within religious groups, or even political parties.

borolad259 Posted on 26/05/2010 20:47
Been away - has anything been happening?

Of course, the Mosque being built close to the 9/11 site might also be regarded as a place of worship close to the scene where a good number of American Muslims died in the atrocity. It may well be that those Muslims who wish to worship there are appalled by the senseless loss of all the lives involved.

ridsdale Posted on 26/05/2010 20:49
Been away - has anything been happening?

Read the article junk.

Those bombers were not just four sick young men who happened to meet up and kill out of the blue.

They were part of a extreme group of Muslims who have preached hatred against the West for a number of years. They did not kill for the sake of killing. It was the result of their doctrine, and those who preach it.

For anyone to suggest that it is separate from extreme Islam is naive to say the least.

"I see the liberal left are throwing their dungaree attired lesbian dolls out of the pram" [cr] quality

conq, why you getting so bent out of shape about this? not like you

informer; you hear christians and athiests spout extremist views but not muslims? do you spend more time with people who fall into the former category? do you think people who fall ito the latter category view you as an outsider and may contain extremist views to others of the same group. like people who are sympathetic to the BNP will often not say anything about race issues unless they are confident or at least suspect their audience may concur with their views.

for my part i think it could be a good idea to have a mosque in the area, it challenges the conceptions currently held due to ignorance. if the mosque is active in trying to integrate into the wider community as a whole and foster open, trusting relationships then that is the best way of challenging and thwarting the aims of the extremists of any persausion. positive change will only come through avenues like this, you can't bomb someone into agreement.

not as many as in some countries.
The bells are on Sunday morning too, not every bloody morning. And not at 5 a.m. either.
Not that I'm too keen on the bells meself either.

I quite like hearing the call to prayer from the mosques. If I closed my eyes, I could pretend that Balsall Heath was actually Marrakech.

TC is just pandering to the crowd as he does on every thread he can, I think it validates his existence or makes him believe he has loads of friends.

If there is a bandwagon he will be on it.

TurnbullsCans Posted on 26/05/2010 21:58
Been away - has anything been happening?

I actually am laughing at someone who has a gripe with the 'sound' eminating from mosques. In Istanbul.

It's hard to believe anyone could be so narrow minded and ignorant towards another culture.

Then you popped up Joshie and I realised that on reflection, it is indeed possible. I fully expect you have a similarly narrow minded towards the world we live in.

no you weren't TC, you were just being what you always are, a rather sad follower of whoevers got the biggest gang. I think Joshie's remarks hit home a little harder than you like to admit.

I'm afraid there is no bandwagon. There is common sense and tolerance. And there's you.

You are moaning about calls from a mosque being a pain in the ar5e, to you whilst you were in a Muslim country.Don't like it, don't go there. What were you expecting when you get there, Greensleeves from a few ice cream vans? Match of the Day theme tune belting out across the city?

Grow up pal.

You want to hear the row in Bierut of a morning.

It's not just the Muslims. There's about 10 different flavours of Christian ringing bells and shouting through loud-halers.

A cacaphony of sound. A mixing pot that had survived side by side for centuries but influenced by outside forces (US, Syria, Isreal and Saudi to name a few).

Some of the nicest people that have ever pulled a AK-47 on me [^]

red_rebel Posted on 26/05/2010 22:30
Been away - has anything been happening?

I'm embarressed by this whole episode.

I'm embarrassed for Goldby who has done something that even by the most generous view is just plain stupid. Even if he holds such outrageous ignorant views privately to go public on his own forum and say them shows an incredible lack of judgement and business acumen.

To compound it by refusing to apologise, admit he is a bigot and then praise his admin for their action (thus admitting it was contravening the T&Cs) is idiotic. It is one thing to have casual racism on the board when you can say you take action to police it if it goes over the line but when the owner does it in such outrageous terms and refuses to back-pedal that has got to damage the integrity of the forum. What if the press/advertisers/club saw that? How do you defend it without looking a pratt?

I'm embarrassed for the same old posters who have used the opportunity to score points and advance their own agendas rather than address the issue which is the owner throwing a wobbly and forcing a frenzy of thread pulling and giving an official stamp of approval of this board's steady drift towards a nasty streak of Islamophobia and racism.

I'm embarrassed of how far this board has sunk. This used to be an informed, humerous and perceptive forum with a friendly buzz and a strong editorial stance on what was acceptable language and behaviour and that Boro fans could be proud of. We used to point at Newcastle's unmoderated board full of foul language, racism and semi-literate grunting as a reflection of that club. I hope people aren't doing the same to us now.

Mostly I am embarrassed for Rob. He is a nice bloke and he built this board up into something to be proud of, something that sat alongside his paper fanzine and media work and clearly identified with the progressive agenda of the supporters movement.

He must be cringing at the behaviour of his partner now. Imagine, one minute you are at a Kick Out Racism event, the next you are firefighting because your big mouthed boss has let the mask slip and is coming out with things that Nick Griffin wouldn't say. (Not in public anyway)

Been away - has anything been happening?

red_rebel - I'm most certainly not Rob's boss and I'm not even really his partner these days.

You say I admitted that I was a bigot. Your post was really good until you threw in something completely made up.

You accuse me of being a racist. Can you quote anything I said that was racist?

I don't need to defend anything here. All I said was that I was disgusted that they were building a mosque on/close to the 9/11 site and I still am.

So you don't agree with my opinion; no problem with that at all but it's not an ignorant or outrageous view at all. Many people demonstrated against this in NYC.

Don't you have no respect for the people who were murdered that day?

Oh, and while I'm at it, I liked Robert's awful attempt at showing his super social side: going to gigs and pretending he's on Time Team in a park in the middle of Middlesbrough.

Morning. I hope Pastrami has sobered up.

Here is a list of some ordinary people, who just happen to be Muslims, that lost their lives in the 9/11 tragedy.

Whilst I'm an atheist myself, I think it would be wrong to deny their loved ones a place close to the 9/11 site, where they can worship and remember.

ridsdale Posted on 27/05/2010 07:51
Been away - has anything been happening?

Muslims in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq and other countries are getting slaughtered daily by their 'brothers'.

Life, all life, has no value for these monsters.

How about putting some flowers down rather than a 15 storey mosque?

The whole thing on here, which is a messageboard, is a storm in a teacup.

Rebel and others have a long term agenda against Goldby and this board since their own attempt to establish one failed miserably.

borolad259 Posted on 27/05/2010 08:15
Been away - has anything been happening?

Rids, please clarify what exactly are your objections to there being a Mosque, not on the site, but close to it?

Given that you accept that the vast majority of Muslims are peaceful and that they abhor the slaughter of innocents (whether Muslim or otherwise), I don't understand what your problem with it would be.

ridsdale Posted on 27/05/2010 08:20

It is not my problem, read what the families of the victims say.

Why so close to the events of 9/11?

It seems insensitive to say the least.

Then no, I do not think it should be located in that part of New York.

red_rebel Posted on 27/05/2010 09:22
Been away - has anything been happening?

Steve Goldby -

I'm not making anything up.

"XXXXXX ISLAM! Take your religion of hatred back to where it belongs because it should not be welcomed in our society. And IF THAT MAKES ME A BIGOT, SO BE IT."

Now you can argue you didn't say it on here and it was just a link to another board if you want but that would just be semantics. Not least because you came on here after it has been linked, defended your position and said you have nothing to apolgise for.

"All I said was that I was disgusted that they were building a mosque on/close to the 9/11 site and I still am."

But that's not all you said is it?

I repeat, I'm embarrassed for you. Stop digging.

borolad259 Posted on 27/05/2010 09:24
Been away - has anything been happening?

Rids, it wasn't Islam that flew planes into buildings. The individuals may have believed that they were doing their God's will, but that's not the same thing.
Are you of the opinion that Catholic Churches should not be sited close to schools, given that the church has, for a long time, been in denial over the abusive activities of some of its priests?

Anyway, no matter...at least you have clarified where you stand, and why.

ridsdale Posted on 27/05/2010 09:39
Been away - has anything been happening?

I'd never given a thought about Catholic churches and their schools. Nor have I been voracious about the siting of this Mosque.

I do disagree with your view that this terror has nothing to do with Islam and the extreme preaching that takes place both here and world wide. And your view that these bombers are separate from that religion, where you claim they are just a few sick individuals.

The Yorkshire ripper was a sick individual. He claimed God told him to kill prostitutes. However, as far as I know, there is no organisation of HGV drivers who claim that there is text and symbols in the Highway Code that 'prove' this. And no HGV websites, military camps and DVD's urging fellow lorry drivers to follow that cause.

You and your ilk, judge your liberalism on how defensive you are of Islam, in all its forms. It is a cause for you like Vietnam once was, a way of showing how large your left wing balls are.

Whilst it is fair game to lump all working class unemployed kids together as chavs, you and George Galloway and the SWP express outrage at ant criticism of this religion which has intolerance at its heart.

I am going out soon, I expect the dark clouds of uber liberalism will cast a shadow upon my path...

this Mosque is two blocks away from Ground Zero, how far is that in meters?

And will you even be able to see it from GZ?

rather than Uber liberalism this is a case of Uber sensitivity and simply jumping on the hate bandwagon.

borolad259 Posted on 27/05/2010 09:52
Been away - has anything been happening?

No, Rids has a problem with liberals. For some reason he assumes that I am liberal, when in fact I'm not at all.

Rids may lump the working class together as chavs, but I certainly don't.

I don't defend Islam, or any religion for that matter. However, I do question Islamophobia...and Ridsdale, your last answer clearly indicates that you are an Islamophobe.

ridsdale Posted on 27/05/2010 09:58

Fair enough, that is your opinion.

I pass the Mosque every day without fear.

I use Muslim run shops every day with no fear nor anger.

What would be the outcome if a good old large Christian Cathedral was built a few yards away from Meccas holy stone.

Goodness. What on earth has been going on? Rob, you should never be allowed out of the fmttm office ever again.

I always thought the purpose of terrorism was to coerce people into behaving in a particular manner? Perhaps to divide people within a population to the point of intolerance? It appears, if we take this board as a representative sample of the British population, they have gone some way to achieving their aim [|)]
