Champions Trophy Semi Final today. Anyone giving us a chance?

robert_huths_niggling_injuries Posted on 02/10/2009 11:54
England v Australia

I think we'll do them

If you can get Ponting and Hussey cheaply you are in business. They are due a failure

speckyget Posted on 02/10/2009 11:54
England v Australia

Most games in this tournament seem to have been decided at the toss, so I'll go 50:50.

lauric Posted on 02/10/2009 11:54
England v Australia

I think we can do them aswell.

I think that new wicket keeper will have a phenomenal debut.

Tom_Fun Posted on 02/10/2009 11:55
England v Australia

Is Davies in then?

boro8686 Posted on 02/10/2009 11:56
England v Australia

i fancy us today too but like speckyget said toss is crucial, luckily theres a big widescreen tv with it on in front of me at work happy days!!!

Sea_Harrier Posted on 02/10/2009 11:57
England v Australia

Specky's right, the toss is vital, and dependant upon how the pitch has been set up.

We must have a chance if the batsmen bat well and the bowlers bowl well too, then it could make for a decent game.

C'mon England.

lauric Posted on 02/10/2009 11:58
England v Australia

Yeah Davies in, Prior is still ill.

Buddy Posted on 02/10/2009 12:00

Don't forget this one's on the radio.

Tom_Fun Posted on 02/10/2009 12:00
England v Australia

Some strange pitches at this tournament, the one against NZ at the Wanderers was a nightmare. Got a feeling the bowling will come down to Broad, buttock muscle notwithstanding. He's wildly inconsistent, but if he bowls well I think we've got a great chance.

lauric Posted on 02/10/2009 12:03
England v Australia

I thought he was ruled out becuase of his buttock muscle?

Tom_Fun Posted on 02/10/2009 12:06
England v Australia

Late fitness test. He'd love to have a crack at the Australians.

mattyk50 Posted on 02/10/2009 12:07
England v Australia

is it the pitch we played sri lanka on??

lauric Posted on 02/10/2009 12:08
England v Australia

It's a shame. I think the only one of our bowlers who strikes the feaar of god into th Aussies is Harmy.

Saying that, Jimmy is fantastic lately.

robert_huths_niggling_injuries Posted on 02/10/2009 12:12
England v Australia

You don't think they are scared of Flintoff like?

lauric Posted on 02/10/2009 12:18
England v Australia

Yes, but not as much as HArmy.

robert_huths_niggling_injuries Posted on 02/10/2009 12:19
England v Australia

Bollox. Flintoff is one of only 2, 3 at a push, England players they genuinely fear

lauric Posted on 02/10/2009 12:25
England v Australia

Harmy, Jimmy and Flintoff.

robert_huths_niggling_injuries Posted on 02/10/2009 12:26
England v Australia

Flintoff.

Pietersen.

Maybe Strauss after this summer, but i'm not so sure

PIECHUCKER Posted on 02/10/2009 12:27
England v Australia

"I think the only one of our bowlers who strikes the feaar of god into th Aussies is Harmy."
What a load of tosh. He strikes the fear of God into our wicketkeeper with the ball flying at him a couple of yards wide of the wicket.
Harmison is finished as a Test player and is going to stick at playing for Durham and supporting the Geordies when England are touring abroad.

lauric Posted on 02/10/2009 12:28
England v Australia

Just aswell it's not a test match then ey.

robert_huths_niggling_injuries Posted on 02/10/2009 12:29
England v Australia

Lauric, you honestly don't think they are scared of Pietersen?

one-two-many Posted on 02/10/2009 12:30
England v Australia

Harmy isn't even in the squad

lauric Posted on 02/10/2009 12:30
England v Australia

On his day yes, every team in the land is scared of him. He is one of the best batsmen in the world.

But for the last 12 - 18 months he has been playing with one leg, and didn't even scare me.

AyresomeJoy Posted on 02/10/2009 12:30
England v Australia

lauric - you fancy broady though dont you...[;)]

Sea_Harrier Posted on 02/10/2009 12:32
England v Australia

Harmison didn't realise his full potential even though he was once rated as the best bowler in the world only about 4 or 5 years ago. He doesn't really fit into the England set up now because his form has gone rapidly into reverse in a big way.
Petulantly claiming "Play me or I retire" ensured his demise, but he'll not be missed.

lauric Posted on 02/10/2009 12:32
England v Australia

1. i know harmy isnt in the squad. I was just saying.

and 2. No, i don't fancy Broady - i'm in love with Jimmy!!

PIECHUCKER Posted on 02/10/2009 12:32
England v Australia

Oversight in my wording there, but you know I meant Harmison is finished as an England player otherwise they would have selected him.

kermit Posted on 02/10/2009 12:33
England v Australia

What's happened to Simon Jones?

robert_huths_niggling_injuries Posted on 02/10/2009 12:34
England v Australia

With one leg he is still our best batsman and the Aussies know it.

They fear hardly any of our players because they haven't got they couldn't strike fear into a lonely kitten. They haven't got the mentality to

lauric Posted on 02/10/2009 12:35
England v Australia

Mr Strauss?

He is a world class batsman.

And the less said about Bopara the better!

He was decent against the Windies last year - and now...

Muttley Posted on 02/10/2009 12:35
England v Australia

Top marks for "Tom_Fun" with an unremarked classic post...

"He'd[Broad] love to have a crack at the Australians."

Sir, I salute you! [:D][^]

robert_huths_niggling_injuries Posted on 02/10/2009 12:36
England v Australia

Nobody has mentioned Bopara??

lauric Posted on 02/10/2009 12:37
England v Australia

I know, im just going through our batting order [^]

Tom_Fun Posted on 02/10/2009 12:49
England v Australia

I'm glad someone noticed it Muttley!

kermit Posted on 02/10/2009 13:18
England v Australia

What's happened to Simon Jones?

Sea_Harrier Posted on 02/10/2009 13:20
England v Australia

England won the toss and elected to bat first.

robert_huths_niggling_injuries Posted on 02/10/2009 13:23
England v Australia

Simon Jones knee fell apart.

Shame really, he was the only one who understood reverse swing

lauric Posted on 02/10/2009 13:26
England v Australia

Come on!!!

kermit Posted on 02/10/2009 13:26
England v Australia

He retired then? Literally heard nothing of him since 2005.

flar Posted on 02/10/2009 13:26
England v Australia

I look so much like Simon Jones its ridiculous.

I actually looked at him and thought "fckin hell thats me"

And Im not even Welsh! WTF?

SPOOKY!

lauric Posted on 02/10/2009 13:28
England v Australia

Nah, Simon Jones still plays county doesn't he?

robert_huths_niggling_injuries Posted on 02/10/2009 13:30
England v Australia

He's just signed for Hampshire

They reckon he will be fit for the start of next season, not holding my breath though

lauric Posted on 02/10/2009 13:33
England v Australia

Hmm, maybe he can get back into the swing of things with county - but i'm not sure we will see him again on an International level.

Come on Straussy! :D

kermit Posted on 02/10/2009 13:34
England v Australia

shame, he was pretty good in the ashes

robert_huths_niggling_injuries Posted on 02/10/2009 13:36
England v Australia

HE was our best bowler that summer.

I'll never forget the delivery to Clarke that pitched well outside off stump, Clarke got across to cover his off stump and shoulder arms, and the ball swang massively to remove his off stump.

World class bowling

lauric Posted on 02/10/2009 13:38
England v Australia

I'm with you on that one RHNI. Siddle's getting smacked around a bit in this over.

fatsuma Posted on 02/10/2009 13:40
England v Australia

Sounds like Broad's torn a buttock and Bresnan's dropped a bollock!

boro8686 Posted on 02/10/2009 13:53
England v Australia

doh might revise my prediction not a good start!

lauric Posted on 02/10/2009 13:56
England v Australia

King colly iwll get us through.

Tom_Fun Posted on 02/10/2009 14:34
England v Australia

Scoring quickly but wickets are falling.

Tom_Fun Posted on 02/10/2009 15:04
England v Australia

Game over I dare say. 100-5.
