It really isn't. And if what you post is true, and in fact you had led a rags to riches story, I hardly think you would be on here trying to compare how much people earned, how much their watch was worth etc etc. Surely if your story was true, and you had arrived from the more difficult path, you would be more humble in respect of what you have (supposedly) achieved?

Achievement is of course a subjective concept and even if true, your version of achievement is a very particular kind.

Never really thought about it to be honest.

However making a sum of money that in reality isn't that great, especially down south, certainly wouldn't be included in the criteria.

Does owning a flash car or a big house constitute success or does it just mean you get paid a decent sum of money, often for making other people far more money than you.

Hapiness. There's plenty of miserable people out there with loads of cash, and plenty of happy people out there who are just happy with their lives because money isn't everything.

Like you, you earn a decent wack, but you're 33 years old, probably single, live in a one bedroom flat in London and spend most of your life on here trying to tell people how good you are.

As already said, in London that's not really good Lisbon.

I think a good wage is a good indicator of success but not the be all and end all.

I earn a lot of money now in comparison to national averages, and am finally being sensible with it, but a few years ago I earned 90k in one year and ended the year with nothing. Nothing at all.

I now own my own house and have a small flat that I rent to my brother, cheaply. I'm proud of that.

Having and earning good money is the easy part. Spending it right is the trick[^]

People in London earn 19k more per year than people in the North East. 50k isnt a very large wage in London IMO.

And although I think you're on a wind-up, if you genuinely think you've made it and have worked for it, fair play. But to play with 'the big boys' in London, you need to be on double that.

The fact that you attribute success to money puts you on a par with the bigbrother, x factor, wannabes. You might as well say your ambition is to be a WAG.

My idea of success is to have your own home surrounded by a loving, well rounded family.

Not sit on your own, surrounded by your own lard arse and empty beer cans and whos only social interaction is to come on here bragging about how good you are.

And yes I am aware of the irony about social interaction and me being on here, but at least I am at work getting paid to read this Bulls**t

Wages are all relevant to what debts/stresses and lifestyle you have.

A fine balance of all these means that you have 'made it'......

Can't believe people still take Lisbon's bragging without a bag of salt [:P]

On a serious note, there's often a trade off between money and enjoyment. I actually enjoy my job now (most of the time); it's different every day, the people I work with are friendly and interesting and I get to be creative which is what I was after.

I have mates who earn more for less work but I wouldn't swap with them for a second so there's little point in resenting it.

Equally I know there's people who earn less than me who perform a far more important role in society.

It's all relative.

Ive just read about the first 20 posts on this topic, and then it suddenly hit me why I dont normally read LL's posts....because hes a tosser who thinks hes better than everyone else!

What do you earn, what watch do you have?

Who gives a fcuk?!?!?!

Ive got a great girlfriend and 2 great sons, and thats worth more to me than anything, and makes me "considerably richer than yow" because i dont sit in my flat w@nkin over my watch and a message board!

Oh, and you know when u have made it when u dont gloat about your money ;)

Well said MSquared. I hesitate to say this because a lot will laugh but last year I sold 43 paintings and earned very little and do you know what that meant a lot to me.
Life isn't about how much you earn but what satisfaction you get from earning it

Thing is Lisbon, even though you are on the wind-up and playing up to the image of being an utterly dislikable c'unt, your humour is pretty much misplaced on this board, not least because people are losing their jobs left, right and centre and other people's livlihoods are not looking that robust i.e. Corus.

Whether you are baiting the hook or not, there are people that have real issues on this front at the moment and could probably do without you being a complete bell end, even if it is in jest.

TC, that is how you are going on. You can't say how much you earn because there's a local recession, people starving in Africa, you could put that money towards orphans from Chad to give them a better cahnce of life, etc. get a grip you pleb, as if anyone even knows or even cares how much I earn. You really need to take long hard look at yourslef if you get upset by what someone has put on a football messageboard.[rle]

What are you on about people starving in Africa you fool? I haven't said anything about that at all.

I said that people have real issues in that area at the moment and are losing their jobs. That's a perfectly valid point. Whether you are on the wind up or not and playing your own version of chase-me, is irrelevant. It's been pointed out to you by more people than me in this thread so I would suggest you w'anking over a wind up on a messageboard is perhaps more the issue.

For the record, there is nothing on a messageboard that could upset me, though there does seem to be plenty that excites you.
