Strong business case to sell Johnson for big offer..

Isn't he out of contract end of the season and refusing to talk about a new one?

If so then if a very big offer came in it would be difficult for Gibbo to be emotional about it in my view.

At the moment Johson is holding all the cards. The more games he impresses in the better the deal he can expect. His agent will be advising him to sit it out and see what comes up from other clubs. If we go up he will stay i think.

it makes more financial sense to keep hold of him and us go up than selling him now

He's under 24 so we'll get a fee for him no matter what, it just goes to a tribunal.

indeed....it's worth 30 million to be in the Premier....we'd get 3 or 4 for him as it stands, maximum

"Isn't he out of contract end of the season and refusing to talk about a new one?"

Hadn't heard he wasn't negotiating

if it went to a tribunal what sort of fee would we get?

Would it be a proper market value?

Calm down people!

Although he appears to be great in the Champ. he's not really set the Permier League alight so where are these huge offers going to come from?
He isn't that young so not 'one for the future' for big clubs.

People always expected Downing to go every season. It wasn't until the drop that he did go. There's every chance Johnson will stay - he's the main man on the left now.

Keep, promotion, sell.

I think Johnson is a totally different type of player to Downing and has the very rare ability, these days, to beat a man in a one on one dribble.

Once he's come of age, and that might be now, he'll be a big attraction to the bigger clubs.

I'd be happier if we were sat here and now with him nicely under a three years remaining contract.

Daniel Sturridge's fee went to a tribunal a few weeks ago. Man City wanted 10m off Chelsea for him [:O] I think they got 4m in the end.

jd 76 - thanks for that info, I suppose we would get something reasonable then if he did go next summer as opposed to nothing at all as in the Turnbull situation.

will somebody kindly explain to me why some fans are obsessed with the finances at the club and are more interested in them than keeping our best players

disease of the 21st century imho

i'd offer him the best deal we can afford, break the bank for him.

he has been a revelation so far this season, and he can only get better.
